195 results about "Pen needles" patented technology

Pen needles are used in conjunction with injection pens to deliver injectable medications into the body. A pen needle consists of a hollow needle which is embedded in a plastic hub and attaches to injection pens. Pen needles come in a variety of needle lengths and diameters and are used by health professionals and patients for injection of a variety of medications. They are commonly used by people with diabetes who often require multiple daily insulin injections.

Sharps container for (I) safe disposal and storage of a single used medical pen needle and/or (II) safe storage and dispensing of a single unused medical pen needle

A sharps container for only one medical pen needle is configured with an elongated, hollow shield having an axially extending recess at a first end thereof. The recess is sized to receive the outer diameter of a pen needle hub. A cover member, sized for closing off the first end of the shield, is connected to the shield by means facilitating movement of the cover member between (i) a first position adjacent to a side of the shield and (ii) a second position abutting the first end of the shield. Locking means may be used for locking the cover member in the second position. The container has dual utilizations, first as a container for only one used medical pen needle and alternatively as a container for only one unused medical pen needle.

Pen Needle Hub Having Increased Contact Area

A pen needle assembly having a hub with an increased surface area that contacts a patient's skin is provided. The increased contact area of the hub with the patient's skin during injection of a cannula decreases the pressure exerted against the patient's skin, thereby increasing the comfort of the patient. A bonding adhesive is disposed on an outer surface of the hub, thereby decreasing the required curing time of the adhesive. Additionally, the increased contact area, between the cannula adhesive and hub increases the strength of the bond therebetween.

Pen injection device cap with integral pen needle quick release and/or removal system

An injection device cap including a cap body configured to remove a pen needle installed on the injection device. A method of removing a pen needle from an injection device using the cap includes installing the pen needle onto a proximal end of an injection device and removing the pen needle using the cap. This Abstract is not intended to define the invention disclosed in the specification, nor intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.

Safety pen needle assembly

In one aspect, a safety pen needle assembly is provided which includes a hub, a needle fixed to a transverse wall of the hub, and a shield formed to at least partially telescope over the hub. An outer ablumenal surface of the hub and an inner lumenal surface of the shield are formed with cooperating thread elements to permit relative rotation between the hub and the shield. In an initial state, the cooperating thread elements are in threaded engagement with the shield being positioned relative to the hub with a distal end of the shield sidewall being located distally of a distal end of the needle. Also, in the initial state, the shield and the hub are configured with a rotation-resistance arrangement which inhibits relative rotation between the hub and the shield. The rotation-resistance arrangement is surmountable to allow relative rotation between the hub and the shield with an at least threshold amount of torque being applied, the threshold amount of torque being greater than required to mount the pen needle assembly onto an injector body. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a safety pen needle assembly can be provided having a shield threaded onto a hub with the assembly being mountable with the needle being in a shielded state. This minimizes the possibility of needle stick during mounting of the safety pen needle assembly.
