3097 results about "Adhesive bonding" patented technology

Adhesive bonding (also referred to as gluing or glue bonding) describes a wafer bonding technique with applying an intermediate layer to connect substrates of different types of materials. Those connections produced can be soluble or insoluble. The commercially available adhesive can be organic or inorganic and is deposited on one or both substrate surfaces. Adhesives, especially the well-established SU-8, and benzocyclobutene (BCB), are specialized for MEMS or electronic component production.

System and Method for Surgical Pack Manufacture, Monitoring, and Tracking

A wrapped surgical pack (400) includes a plurality of adhesive bindings (301,302) that retain an identification device (305) against an outer wrap (201) of the wrapped surgical pack (400). The identification device (305) is capable of being read by a remote reader (801). When the wrapped surgical pack (400) is opened, the physical structure of the identification device (305) is altered, thereby allowing one or more processors operable with the remote reader (801) to detect the opening event. A system (800) using the identification device (305) can be used for order fulfillment, inventory management, location tracking, and other systems.

Methods of high temperature infiltration of drill bits and infiltrating binder

A method of manufacturing a bit body, other drilling-related component, or other article of manufacture, including fabricating a particulate-based matrix and infiltrating the particulate-based matrix with a binder that includes cobalt or iron. The binder may be a cobalt alloy or an iron alloy. The particulate-based matrix may be disposed within a non-graphite mold. The particulate-based matrix and binder are placed within an induction coil and an alternating current is applied to the induction coil in order to directly heat the binder, permitting the binder to infiltrate or otherwise bind the particles of the matrix together. The molten binder may then be directionally cooled by forming a cooling zone around an end portion of the bit body and increasing the size of the cooling zone relative to the bit body. The invention also includes a bit body, other drilling-related component, or other article of manufacture which includes a particulate-based matrix that is bound together with a binder that includes iron or cobalt.

Nasal strip with variable spring rate

A nasal dilator capable of introducing separating stresses in nasal outer wall tissues has a truss of a single body with a resilient member secured therein and a pair of spaced-apart end surfaces which, when forced toward one another from initial positions to substantially reduce direct spacing therebetween by a spacing reducing force external to said truss, results in restoring forces in the truss tending to return to the original direct spacing between the end surfaces. A resilient member, which is symmetrical with respect to a centerline of the truss that is perpendicular to the long axis of the truss, has a spring rate which continuously diminishes from the centerline to the end surfaces. An adhesive on the end surfaces adhesively engages exposed surfaces of nasal outer wall tissues sufficiently to keep the truss attached to the nasal wall surfaces while subjecting them to the restoring forces.

3-D Printing of near net shape products

The disclosed method relates to manufacture of a near net-shaped products such as ceramic containing products such as ceramic-metal composites. The method entails forming a mixture of a build material and a binder and depositing that mixture onto a surface to produce a layer of the mixture. An activator fluid then is applied to at least one selected region of the layer to bond the binder to the build material to yield a shaped pattern. These steps may be repeated to produce a porous whitebody that is heat treated to yield a porous greenbody preform having a porosity of about 30% to about 70%. Adhesives for vehicle body manufacturing

Two-component systems are described which are suitable for underlining, adhesive bonding of the crimped fold and sealing of auto body sections, particularly for crimped fold sealing of add-on vehicle parts. The two-component systems attain the requisite grip strength for mounting the add-on parts on the body as well as the requisite strength and dimensional stability for the production process up to and with the CIP passage, within the predetermined cycle time, on the basis of cross-linking of the sealant composition twice. In one embodiment, the surface of the two-component system is pre-cross-linked by a UV-induced reaction and by the cross-linking of the two-component system to the extent of portability. In addition, two-component systems are described which cross-link intentionally only partially up to a consistency that permits a rugged course of the process through cleaning baths and which harden completely only by means of a further hardening process, for instance in the CIP forced circulation oven.

Ceramic tile armor with enhanced joint and edge protection

A ceramic composite tile armor which is reinforced at the more vulnerable joint and free edge areas, using glass or ceramic strips or overlays bonded with an adhesive to the outer surface of the tile joints and free edges. This reinforcement provides improved ballistic threat protection for ground vehicle, aircraft, watercraft, spacecraft, and body (personnel) ceramic tile armor applications. Glass or ceramic overlay strips assist in fracturing impacting projectiles that strike the tile joints or free edges. The substrate laminate backing can then capture fragments of the projectile and broken ceramic and prevent penetration. The invention provides improved protection over conventional joint and edge enhancements with higher reliability of accurate positioning over joint and free-edge areas, with less added weight, and at lower associated production costs.
