Content delivery network by-pass system

The bypass network is designed to provide fast access and high quality streaming media services anywhere anytime. There are five major components including Peering Gateway, Content Locator, Edge Server, Gateway and Client. The whole bypass network is divided into number of self-managed sub-networks, which are referred as local networks in this document. Each local network contains Edge Servers, gateways, and a Content Locator. The Edge Servers serve as cache storage and streaming servers for the local network. The gateways provide a connection point for the client computers. Each local network is managed by a Content Locator. The Content Locator handles all client requests by communicating with the Peering Gateway and actual web sites, and makes the content available on local Edge Servers. The Content Locator also balances the load on each Edge Server by monitoring the workload on them. One embodiment is designed for home users whose home machine does not move around frequently. A second embodiment is designed for business users who travel around very often where the laptops would self-configure as a client of the network.

Shuffled LDPC decoding

An LDPC decoder iteratively decodes an LDPC code represented by a parity check matrix H consisting of a plurality of circulants based on a Log-Likelihood Ratio Belief-Propagation algorithm. First computation means (1010) compute for a next iteration symbol messages λκm from a representation of a corresponding symbol value stored in a first memory 1005 and from check node messages Λmn from a previous iteration. A shuffler (1030) changes a sequence of the symbol message received from the first computation means (1010) in dependence on a position of the non-zero elements in a corresponding sub-matrix. Second computation N means (DP-O, DP-I, DP-D-I) compute the check node messages in dependence on symbol messages received from the barrel shifter and store a representation of the computed check node message in a second memory (1015). Third computation means (1020) update the representation of the symbol values in the first memory in dependence on output of the first and second computing means. The principle of “staggered” or “shuffled” LDPC decoding is used. One embodiment is designed for multi-diagonal circulants.

Installation for harvesting ocean currents (IHOC) and methods and means for its delivery, installation and servicing

Installation for harvesting energy of ocean currents (IHOC) in deepwaters is based on utilization of a semisubmersible platform and the multiple of vertically oriented Darrieus type hydraulic turbines. The turbines are located as close as possible to ocean surface, where speed of current is usually at its maximum. Since speed of current fluctuate during the seasons a system controlling buoyancy force of that keeps IHOC floating near surface is employed. The mooring system consists of three tethers, which prevent transferring of overturning moment applied to IHOC to anchoring base. The electric power generators are located in a machinery room on a structure well above sea level and would transmit electric power to the shore utilizing flexible cable. During hurricane it will be lowered to the depth preventing turbines from being affected by wave actions, at the same time it would keep machinery room above wave action. For the purpose of delivery assembled on shore Turbine Housing to destination site and installing it there a special convoy is formed consisting of Catamaran Delivery Barge and Stabilizing Platform. The second Embodiment of this invention is designed to harvest energy of tides in deepwaters.
