A putter golf club head includes a body fitted with relatively high-density heel and toe inserts. A golf putter club head includes a body formed of a first material (e.g., titanium) having a density of approximately 3.0 g / cm3 to 7.0 g / cm3. Two cavities are formed in the body, one adjacent to the heel region of the body, and another adjacent to the toe region. Inserts are provided in each of the two cavities and are formed of a second material (e.g., tungsten) having a density ranging from approximately 15.0 g / cm3 to 20.0 g / cm3. The cavities may be configured such that they extend to (or are bounded by) the bottom surface and / or the front face of the body. In one embodiment, the body of the putter club head has an elastic modulus greater than approximately 90 GPa while the density of the insert material is greater than the density of the body material by a factor of at least 3.0.

Another aspect is a snowboard binding including a strap adapted to releasably secure the snowboard boot and constructed and arranged to avoid creation of a pressure point at an instep bone of the rider. A further aspect is an apparatus comprising a snowboard boot and a strap attached thereto. The strap is arranged to prevent the rider's heel from lifting in the snowboard boot, and is constructed and arranged to avoid creation of a pressure point at an instep bone of the rider.

A method for protecting the ankle against injury, limit subtalar joint motion of the ankle by controlling the motions of segments of the subtalar joint fore and aft of the subtalar joint while permitting motion of the foot about the ankle joint with an improved athletic shoe, ankle orthosis. A supporting structure a part of or connected to the shoe or orthosis is preferably in the form of a heel-sole counter provided about the heel and at least a portion of the foot forward of the subtalar joint which includes a split toe sole extension. The supporting structure has a semi-rigid shape retaining character which is not collapsible vertically and which together with the shoe or orthosis limits torsional movement of the foot about the longitudinal axis of the subtalar joint as seen in a top plan view thereof by an upwardly extending portion thereof which acts as a torsion bar that is, in turn, secured to the lower leg. Preferably, the torsion bar has directional properties for resisting bending which are most rigid in a direction orthogonal or nearly orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the subtalar joint. In a disclosed embodiment of the shoe motion of the midtarsal joint is also limited by the supporting structure to aid in limiting subtalar joint motion and shoe rollover. The shoe is secured to the foot by way of a strap arrangement which applies a force to the foot in a direction which, together with the heel-sole counter opposes the subtalar joint motion in supination.

Method of making a lasted skate boot

A method of making a lasted skate boot comprising: (a) providing a male-female mold having male and female sections for defining a mold cavity therebetween, the male section having sides, a rear portion and a bottom portion for defining a three dimensional shape corresponding to the external three dimensional shape of the foot, the female section defining a recess for receiving the male section, the male section comprising a plurality of inner channels for admitting liquid plastic material in the mold cavity; (b) providing a pre-cut sheet made of cloth material laminated to a support made of non-woven fabric; (c) placing the sheet on the male section of the mold such that the non-woven fabric contacts the sides and rear portion of the male section of the mold; (d) closing the male and female sections of the mold; (e) injecting liquid plastic material in the inner channels such that the liquid plastic material spreads on the sheet, pushes the sheet against the recess of the female section of the mold, fills the mold cavity and fuses with the non-woven fabric to form, after cooling, an outer shell comprising a heel portion for surrounding the heel, an ankle portion for surrounding the ankle, and medial and lateral side portions for enclosing the medial and lateral sides of the foot respectively; (f) opening the male and female sections of the mold; and (g) removing the outer shell from the mold.
