A first electromagnetic valve is connected with a hexavalent chromium standard solution and a second electromagnetic valve and then is connected to a first joint of a six-way valve through a peristaltic pump; the second electromagnetic valve is connected with a standard sample; a second joint of the six-way valve is connected with a fifth joint through a quantifying ring; a sixth joint of the six-way valve is connected with waste liquid; a third joint of the six-way valve is connected to current carrying liquid through the peristaltic pump; a fourth joint of the six-way valve is connected with one end of a reaction pipe and a development agent passing through the peristaltic pump respectively through a three-way mixing machine; a third electromagnetic valve is connected to the other end of the reaction pipe and air respectively; and the third electromagnetic valve is also connected to the waste liquid through a photoelectric detection device. A tunable mid-infrared laser operated in a pulsed mode is coupled off-axis into a high-finesse optical cavity to produce a long-path spectrometer. The cavity receives a gas sample. Laser pulses may be wavelength-scanned by stepping an external grating, allowing the grating to mechanically settle, then measuring the ring-down with a set of laser pulses, before moving on the next wavelength. The present invention deals with a device for quick estimation of biochemical oxygen demand of beverage waste water. This device consists of an immobilized microbial membrane attached to an electrode, multimeter and a laptop workstation installed with a developed software. BOD measurement of beverage waste water using this device is rapid, reproducible and effective as compared to conventional titration based methods. This device also excludes COD estimation as required for BOD estimation of waste water. This bio-electrochemical device may find wide commercial application in beverage industries emanating waste waters.
