Biomass pelletizing process and pelletized products

A pelletizing process and pelletized product is provided using non-food or limited-feed agricultural residue, such as corn stover and soybean stubble, and for various uses, including energy production, such as ethanol or electricity generation, fuel and feed. The agricultural plant material is harvested and baled. The bales are transported to the processing site for storage or immediate processing. The bale strings are first removed, and then the broken bales are shredded. The shredded plant material is then ground to a small size. The ground material is then pelletized without the use of binding additives, to produce densified pellets of the agricultural plant material. The pellets are cooled and then stored or transported to an end user. Chemical agents may be added to depolymerize lignin in the residue material. Nutritional supplements may be added to the material before pelletizing.

Method of Extending and Improving Aircraft Life and Efficiency

A method for extending the useful and economic life of an aircraft and improving aircraft efficiency is provided. This method produces significant fuel savings on the ground and in flight as well as cost-effective and efficient operation of and reduced maintenance requirements for older aircraft. The increased economic viability of the continued use of older aircraft is achieved by equipping an aircraft with at least one onboard drive wheel assembly controllably powered to drive the aircraft during ground travel independently of aircraft engines or external tow vehicles. The substantial elimination of damage to an aircraft's airframe, brakes, landing gear, and engine components resulting from tow vehicle attachment, brake application during ground travel with operating aircraft engines, or by FOD produces cleaner, more efficient engine operation during flight. Significant and substantial potential cost savings realized by the present method makes the continued use of older aircraft a viable option.

Telecommunications service negotiation

A service tender node functions as an intermediary between subscribers and adjunct telecommunications services from multiple service providers to facilitate negotiation of services in real-time. The service tender node includes an index of services which is maintained and employed to search for applicable services in response to a tender request generated by a subscriber. Records in the index are described with an adaptive service definition which includes standard parameters and subjective parameters. The standard parameters identify types of service pursuant to telecommunications industry standards. The subjective parameters may be specified by individual service providers in order to differentiate their services within the service type defined by the standard parameters. Services generated from a search of the index pursuant to the standard parameters may be further sorted and filtered according to a comparison between a subscriber profile and the subjective parameters.

Injection metal assisted catalytic etching

An electroless etching process. The process produces nanostructured semiconductors in which an oxidant (Ox1) is deposited as a metal on a semiconductor surface and used as a catalytic agent to facilitate reaction between a semiconductor and a second oxidant (Ox2). Ox2 is used to initiate etching by injecting holes into the semiconductor valence band as facilitated by the catalytic action of the deposited metal. The extent of reaction is controlled by the amount of Ox2 added; the reaction rate is controlled by the injection rate of Ox2. The process produces high specific surface area and / or hierarchically structured porous Si with higher and controllable yield. In addition, the ability is demonstrated to vary the pore size distribution of mesoporous silicon including producing hierarchically structured mesoporous silicon with more than one peak in the pore size distribution. In principle, the process applies to any semiconductor onto which metal can be deposited galvanically.
