Residual-Based Monitoring of Human Health

ActiveUS20070149862A1Increases patient monitoring loadFacilitates long-termAnalogue computers for chemical processesCharacter and pattern recognitionEngineeringHuman health
Improved human health monitoring is provided in the context of sensor measurements of typical vital signs and other biological parameters, by a system and method using an empirical model of the parameters and disposed to estimate values of the parameters in response to actual measurements. Residuals resulting from the difference between the estimates and actual measurements are analyzed for robust indications of incipient health issues. Residual analysis is both more robust and more sensitive than conventional univariate range checking on vital signs.

Apparatus and method for detecting defect existing in pattern on object

In a defect detection apparatus 1, in a reference image inspection circuit 42 compared are a reference image representing a pattern in a die which is determined as a reference on a substrate 9 and a plurality of supervisory images which represent patterns in selected block areas, respectively, to detect defects included in the reference image. Subsequently, in the target image inspection circuit 44, a target image representing a pattern in another die and the reference image are compared to detect a plurality of defect candidates included in the target image. Then, a defect detector 45 excludes defect candidates overlapping with the defects included in the reference image from the plurality of defect candidates on the basis of at least positional information of the defects included in the reference image. This makes it possible to detect defects existing in the pattern in another die accurately while eliminating effects of the defects existing in the pattern in the die which is determined as the reference.

Low-voltage IC test for defect screening

System and method using low voltage current measurements to measure voltage network currents in an integrated circuit (IC). In one aspect, a low voltage current leakage test is applied voltage networks for the IC or microchip via one or more IC chip connectors. One or multiple specifications are developed based on chip's circuit delay wherein a chip is aborted or sorted into a lesser reliability sort depending whether the chip fails specification. Alternately, a low voltage current leakage test begins an integrated circuit test flow. Then there is run a high voltage stress, and a second low voltage current leakage test is thereafter added. Then, there is compared the second low voltage test to the first low V test, and if the measured current is less on second test, this is indicative of a defect present which may result in either a scrap or downgrade reliability of chip.

Background plateau manipulation for display device power conservation

Described herein are systems and methods that reduce power consumption for an electronics device that includes a display. The power conservation systems and methods alter background video information not needed for interactive use when a user returns to a display after some period of inactivity. Power conservation also preserves video information for one or more graphical user interface items. Preserving a graphics item maintains a person's ability to detect the graphical user interface item, and return to it at a later time, even though the background video information has been altered to conserve power.

Numerical controlling unit having tool-breakage detecting function

A numerical controlling unit according to the present invention includes: an inputting part into which a machining program for machining a workpiece is inputted; an analyzing part that analyzes the machining program to generate an instructed spindle rotational speed and calculates a spindle load ratio indicating a ratio of a load applied to a spindle under a machining condition according to the machining program, with respect to a spindle load being caused when the workpiece is machined under a machining condition of a certain reference; and a distributing part that generates, based on the machining program, a distribution amount per unit period to be inputted into a feed-axis servo driver for moving a feed axis. A spindle-rotational-amount-command outputting part receives the instructed spindle rotational speed and outputs a spindle-rotational-amount command for commanding a rotational amount per unit period. The spindle-rotational-amount command is inputted into a spindle driver. A cutting-load-for judgment calculating part calculates a reference torque value based on the spindle load ratio outputted by the analyzing part, the distribution amount outputted by the distributing part, and the spindle-rotational-amount command outputted by the spindle-rotational-amount-command outputting part. A spindle-load comparing part compares the reference torque value with a load torque value which is feedback inputted by the spindle driver and outputs a tool-breakage detecting signal when the load torque value is higher than the reference torque value.

Microscope and inspection apparatus

A system including a microscope and an inspection apparatus in which an objective lens having a large numerical aperture is used for detecting a defect existing inside a sample. A light source apparatus produces linearly polarized light. The polarization maintaining fibers optically coupled to the light source apparatus project the linearly polarized light onto the sample surface as an illumination beam of P-polarized light at an incidence angle substantially equal to the Brewster's angle of the sample. The scattered light generated by the defect existing in the sample is emitted from the sample and is collected by the objective lens whose optical axis is perpendicular to the sample surface. Since the illumination beam of P-polarized light is projected at the incidence angle equal to the Brewster's angle of the sample, no surface reflection occurs and it is possible to use the objective lens having a large numerical aperture.
