The computers each include a memory area for storing information about an order of operating priorities among the computers and another memory area for storing a cluster service program, whereby when an active computer from the computers fails as a failed computer, the cluster service program is executed to select a standby computer from the remaining computers according to the information about the order of operating priorities to be a failover computer to take over processing from the failed computer. The information about the order of operating priorities may relate to the types of remote copy operation used between the storage systems.

The present invention relates to a system and methodology to facilitate database processing in accordance with a plurality of various applications. In one aspect, a large database of objects is processed, wherein the objects can be represented as points in a vector space, and two or more objects are deemed ‘close’ if a Euclidean distance between the points is small. This can apply for substantially any type of object, provided a suitable distance measure can be defined. In another aspect, a ‘test’ object having a vector x, is processed to determine if there exists an object y in the database such that the distance between x and y falls below a threshold t. If several objects in the database satisfy this criteria, a list of objects can be returned, together with their corresponding distances. If no objects were to satisfy the criterion, an indication of this condition can also be provided, but in addition, the condition or information relating to the condition can be provided.

The invention discloses a virtual CPU scheduling method capable of enhancing real-time performance. The virtual CPU scheduling method comprises the following steps: a virtual machine management control tool accepts a command that a user operates a virtual machine and schedule parameters; the management control tool judges whether a user command is related with a real-time virtual machine, conditions for meeting schedulability of the real-time virtual machine are calculated if the user command is related with the real-time virtual machine, and physical CPU resources are dynamically partitioned according to the calculation result; scheduling is carried out by adopting the virtual CPU scheduling method capable of enhancing real-time performance, a global earliest deadline priority scheduling algorithm is applied to a CPU resource pool operating the real-time virtual machine, and a limit scheduling algorithm is applied to a CPU resource pool operating a non-real time virtual machine; optimization of virtual CPU caching and hitting is conducted on the global earliest deadline priority scheduling algorithm. According to the virtual CPU scheduling method capable of enhancing real-time performance, real-time performance of the real-time virtual machine is guaranteed, a good isolation property is provided for partitioning the CPU recourses, and influence on performance of the non-real time virtual machine is reduced.
