Method of deacidizing a gas by means of an absorbent solution with fractionated regeneration through heating

A method of deacidizing a gaseous effluent comprising acid compounds where the gaseous effluent is contacted in C1 with an adsorbent solution so as to obtain a gaseous effluent depleted in acid compounds and an absorbent solution laden with acid compounds, the absorbent solution being selected for its property of forming two separable phases when it has absorbed an amount of acid compounds and when it is heated. The absorbent solution laden with acid compounds is then heated in E1 and E3 so as to separate two fractions: a first absorbent solution fraction depleted in acid compounds and a second absorbent solution fraction enriched in acid compounds. These two fractions are then separated in BS1. The second fraction is regenerated in C2 so as to release part of the acid compounds, and the first absorbent solution fraction and the regenerated absorbent solution are recycled as absorbent solution.

Multi-band helical antenna

A multi-band helical antenna of the present invention includes a dielectric body including a plurality of dielectric sheets stacked in a predetermined order and a first and a second metallic pattern sections provided in the dielectric body. The first metallic pattern includes a plurality of first partially opened metallic loop patterns and a plurality of first connection elements connecting the respective adjacent first partially opened metallic loop patterns to form a first spiral structure. The second metallic pattern section includes a plurality of second partially opened metallic loop patterns and a plurality of second connection elements connecting the respective adjacent second partially opened metallic loop patterns to form a second spiral structure. The first and the second metallic pattern sections having different entire lengths. Accordingly, the multi-band helical antenna of the present invention has a dual resonant frequency characteristic and operates in different frequency bands.

Instrument for bending spinal rods used in a spinal fixation system

An instrument and method for bending a surgical implant, such as a spinal rod, includes a lever pivotally connected to a handle through a movable linkage system. The movable linkage system includes one or more bearing surfaces for applying a force to a first portion of the surgical implant while a rod seat connected to the handle holds an adjacent second portion of the surgical implant in a fixed position, thereby causing the surgical implant to bend between the first and second portion. The instrument can be easily operated using a single hand, is easy to control and requires a relatively small amount of force to bend a surgical implant. The instrument can include an automatic advancement means for advancing the surgical implant after bending to bend another portion of the surgical implant by a selected amount. The instrument can also be used for bending spinal rods having a non-circular cross-section in multiple planes.

Three-dimensional omni-directional antenna designs for ultra-wideband applications

The present invention generally relates to the field of microwave antennas, and, more particularly, to a number of three-dimensional designs for the radiation element of an ultra-wideband monopole antenna with a symmetrical omni-directional radiation pattern operated in the frequency range between 3.1 GHz and 10.6 GHz. Said antenna is connected to the analog front-end circuitry of a wireless communication device used for transmitting and / or receiving microwave signals and meets the FCC requirements in terms of antenna gain, radiation pattern, polarization, frequency bandwidth, group delay, and size. It comprises a radiation element consisting of an air- and / or dielectric-filled cavity structure with a base plane and a radiator plane. A metallic ground plane having a relatively high surface impedance to electromagnetic waves within said frequency range, which is printed on a dielectric substrate, serves as a reflector. The monopole antenna further comprises an antenna feeding circuitry used for electronically steering the symmetrical omni-directional radiation pattern and a feeding line connecting the antenna feeding circuitry with the base plane of the radiation element. Thereby, parts of the analog front-end circuitry can optionally be placed within the air-filled part of the radiation element of the antenna. The proposed designs include a radiation element having the form of a truncated right circular cone, rotational-symmetric radiation elements with a convexly- or concavely-shaped 3D surface, respectively, a radiation element in the form of a truncated right regular pyramid with a square base plane, and radiation elements with a combined structure comprising a conical, pyramidal, convexly- or concavely-shaped first part and a closed cylindrical or cuboidal second part whose top plane is arranged on top of the congruent base plane of said first part. Further embodiments include radiation elements with the form of a radially notched cylinder or hemisphere as well as combined structures consisting of at least two convexly-shaped elements or two conical parts, respectively, stacked on top of each other.
