Method for forming nitride film

A plasma-assisted ALD method using a vertical furnace and being performed by repeating a cycle until a desired film thickness is obtained is disclosed. The cycle comprises introducing a source gas containing a source to be nitrided, adsorbing, purging, introducing a nitriding gas and nitriding the source, and then, purging. A flow rate of a second carrier gas during introduction of the nitriding gas is reduced relative to that of a first carrier gas during introduction of the source gas. Particularly, a flow ratio of NH3 gas as the nitriding gas to N2 gas as the second carrier gas is 50:3 or less.

System and method to heat and dispense water

A system (200) and method to heat and dispense water (236,240) at one of a lower pressure and a higher pressure. Low-pressure unheated water (238) is heated to become low-pressure heated water (236), which then passes through a normally open solenoid valve (210) to arrive at a spout (202). If a pressure-control device (222) is open or not affixed to the spout (202), then the spout (202) dispenses the low-pressure heated water (236). If the pressure-control device (222) is closed or affixed to the spout (202), then the low-pressure heated water (236) is inhibited from passing through the spout (202), and the pressure at a pressure sensor (218) is substantially the lower pressure. In this case, the normally open solenoid valve (210) is closed and a normally closed solenoid valve (212) is opened. The low-pressure heated water (236) then passes through the now-open normally closed solenoid valve (212) and to a pump (214), where it becomes a high-pressure heated water (240), which is then dispensed by the spout (202).

Methods and systems for displaying animated graphics on a computing device

Disclosed are methods and systems for interfaces between video applications and display screens that allow applications to intelligently use display resources of their host device without tying themselves too closely to operational particulars of that host. A graphics arbiter provides display environment information to the video applications and accesses the applications' output to efficiently present that output to the display screen, possibly transforming the output or allowing another application to transform it in the process. The graphics arbiter tells applications the estimated time when the next frame will be displayed on the screen. Applications tailor their output to the estimated display time, thus improving output quality while decreasing resource waste by avoiding the production of “extra” frames. The graphics arbiter tells an application when its output is fully or partially occluded so that the application need not expend resources to draw portions of frames that are not visible.

A map of site-specific amounts of a soil nutrient, to be applied in fertilizer to an agricultural field is created using a map of site-specific amounts of the soil nutrient needed to produce the maximum possible yield at the particular site. Subtracted from the site-specific amounts of nutrient needed are site-specific amounts of the nutrient currently existing in the field, thus producing the map of site-specific nutrient amounts to be added. The nutrient amounts may be added to the soil using the map and conventional variable-rate fertilizer application methods. In one embodiment, the amounts of the soil nutrient needed to produce the maximum possible yield at each site is created using a map of site-specific measures of biomass produced by the field in a past growing season or seasons, which in turn is created from a remotely sensed biomass image.
