Motion control mechanism for a piston engine

An improved piston engine includes a rocker arm and a connecting link between the piston rod and the crankshaft to allow its motion to be altered from that of the classic piston engine in order to overcome inherent limitations of the latter and realize greater efficiency. By inserting these two components between the end of a rigidly attached piston rod and a conventional crankshaft, the motion of the piston with respect to the crankshaft can be altered in important ways. For example, the dwell at top dead center can be increased relative to dwell at bottom dead center to the point where they are equal or in fact where dwell at top dead center is greater. Furthermore, because the piston rod is not directly connected to the crankshaft, ignition of the fuel can be timed to occur before top dead center so that pressure is maximized at top dead center in order to improve efficiency. Furthermore, the piston stroke can be shortened and slowed by the geometry of the rocker arm, thus increasing engine life.

Cutting device for elongated materials

The cutting device comprises a first block or ram, and a second block or receptacle. The ram has a channel that extends along its longitudinal length, the channel is sized and configured to accept at least a portion of a cutting blade. The receptacle has a hollow sized and configured to accept at least a portion of the ram. The blade is arranged within the hollow and extends from the receptacle into the hollow and toward the ram. The blade is advantageously recessed within the ram. In one embodiment, the ram is attached to a drive coupled to a sewing machine, and the receptacle is attached to the sewing machine. The ram is moveable between a retracted position, in which the ram is separated from the receptacle, and an extended position, in which at least a portion of the ram is housed within the receptacle. By this configuration, elongated material may be placed between the receptacle and ram and then the ram can move from the retracted position to the extended position, whereby a portion of the elongated material is cut by the blade.

A device for solar panels and method allows seasonal tilting by human assistance for changes in sun angle above equator, and unassisted daily positioning east to west to east. A primary support member is fixed to the back of a typical solar panel, generally from corner to corner along a line of balance. This support member is elongated and enabled for rotation, with attached panel by rotation sleeves or pivots. Extensions of the rotation sleeves in connection with two posts are positioned on a polar axis. The posts are solidly fixed in the earth or a base. The rotation sleeve covering the longer post, closest to the pole, is manually adjusted and secured to change the angle of the collector with the equator. Stops are provided. A linear actuator is pivotally attached at an edge or corner of the solar panel with the other end attached to a post, which is pivotally attached relative to the ground or base. An electric motor is powered by batteries to drive the linear actuator. Control of the motor is regulated by programmed activation in response to time of day as maintained by an on board clock. The panel tracks the sun and at change of day returns to a preset position. Cooling of the solar panel is provided with subsurface air via infiltration gallery and distribution channels. Air moves by convection or with auxiliary fan.

Fluoroscopy

When urinary organ contrasting inspection is performed using a fluoroscopy for digestive organs, an region of interest such as a bladder often comes to the vicinity of the foot side end of a top plate, and since an X-ray tube device and an X-ray image detecting section are interlocked such that the focal point of the X-ray tube device comes directly above the central position of the X-ray image detecting section, the focal point often fails to be located directly above the region of interest in the vicinity of the foot side end of the top plate. Consequently, it is often the case that the irradiation field cannot be limited to a suitable area to the region of interest and only oblique photography can be performed. When urinary organ contrasting inspection is performed, an X-ray tube device (1), an X-ray diaphragm (16) and an X-ray image detecting section (3) are interlocked such that the foot side end of irradiation field matches the foot side end of the X-ray image detecting section (3). Consequently, the focal point (1A) of the X-ray tube device (1) can be moved directly above the foot side end of the X-ray image detecting section (3).

Method and system for providing business intelligence web content with reduced client-side processing

A layered architecture for communication of reporting system reports to users connecting via a web server. Users communicate via HTTP with web servers without download of plugins or executable files to the user system. The web servers are clustered to balance requests and transmit the requests. The web servers pass report requests via XML to the business intelligence servers to perform the work with the databases. The business intelligence servers convert reports into XML and provide the XML-based version to the web server. The web server then transmits an HTML or DHTML report back to the client over the web.
