Haptic apparatus and coaching method for improving vehicle fuel economy

An apparatus is disclosed that includes a haptic actuator operatively associated with a pedal assembly of the vehicle, a human-machine interface (HMI) for enabling the driver to select between a plurality of fuel savings settings, and a controller coupled to a data interface in the vehicle and the HMI interface for causing the haptic actuator to provide feedback to the driver when an aspect of vehicle operation crosses at least one of a plurality of speed and acceleration thresholds responsive to the HMI setting. Additionally, a coaching method provides haptic-based feedback that will not interfere with the operation of the vehicle. This method of closed-loop feedback provides a timely signal to the driver in a way that will encourage a change in driver style over time, such as backing off the accelerator pedal to accelerate at a lower rate and braking earlier with less intensity. As not all driver preferences are the same under all conditions, the HMI selector will help coach the driver by providing feedback that best fits their driving preference at the particular time.

Metering unit for a fuel injection system for internal combustion engines

A fuel injection system for internal combustion engines, has a distributor tube and a high-pressure pump that is driven as a function of engine rpm and that serves to generate the fuel pressure and throughput required in the distributor tube in the applicable operating state of the engine. The system also includes a fuel metering unit, which is associated with the high-pressure pump and includes a regulating valve which is actuated electromagnetically. The fuel metering unit is disposed in the high-pressure pump, and the outlet of the regulating valve discharges into the low-pressure region of the high-pressure pump. The above design features make a fuel metering unit possible that is capable of metering the exact quantity of fuel desired in the applicable engine operating state to the high-pressure pump of the CR system.

The invention discloses a rubber composition for a color truck radial tire tread. The rubber composition comprises, by weight, 100 parts of a rubber matrix, 5-8 parts of an active agent, 40-80 parts of white carbon black, 4-8 parts of a silane coupling agent, 4-10 parts of light color rubber oil, 1.5-3.5 parts of an accelerator, 4-8 parts of an anti-aging agent, 1-2 parts of a vulcanizing agent, 5-8 parts of an antistatic agent, and 3-6 parts of a coloring agent, wherein the rubber matrix comprises a natural rubber and rare earth polybutadiene rubber, or comprises a natural rubber, rare earthpolybutadiene rubber and styrene butadiene rubber, the white carbon black is the high dispersible precipitated white carbon black, the accelerator is the combination of an accelerator CBS and an accelerator DPG, the anti-aging agent is the combination of three components of a non-polluting type light color antiozidant, a non-polluting type light color antioxidant and an anti-aging agent RD, the vulcanizing agent is sulfur, and the antistatic agent is a polyether antistatic agent. With the rubber composition of the present invention, the tensile strength of the prepared tread is 25 MPa, and the elongation at break is more than 500%. The rubber composition of the present invention is mainly used for the color truck radial tire tread.

Methods and systems for fuel vapor control

In one example, cooling fluid is routed from an air conditioner of a cooling system to a vapor cooler disposed in a vapor space of the fuel tank such that fuel vapor in the fuel tank may be condensed and routed to a fuel pump for delivery to the engine, thereby reducing a fuel tank pressure.
