Hydroponic cultivation apparatus and method

An apparatus which includes a growing container in which plants are hydroponically grown on a support medium is disclosed. The growing container includes a plurality of openings in which seals are installed. The seals include holes through which the plants grow. When seeds are planted, a hollow tube is placed through the seal hole to maintain the seed in position. After the seed germinates, it grows through the tube. As continued growth expands the plant's stem to the size of the tube, the tube breaks apart and does not constrain future plant growth. Moreover, as the plant grows further, the seal hole expands to accommodate the plant stem. The seal surrounds and contacts the plant stem to reduce evaporation of nutrient solution from the growing container and to keep insects and contamination out of the growing container. A holding container is positioned above the growing container and coupled to the growing container through a manifold arrangement. The holding container may be quickly filled with a single, measured nutrient solution charge for the growing container. Then, a valve is opened, and the manifold arrangement slowly distributes the nutrient solution to the growing container where it is substantially absorbed by the support medium and wicked to the vicinity of the plant within the growing container.

The fertilizer comprises the following components in parts by weight: oyster shells, polylactic acid, expanded graphite, thermally activated nano chernozem, pinecones, pomegranate barks, mosses, sugarcane ash, a soil beneficial microbial inoculant, bacitracin zinc, phytase, amino acid, ground calcium ammonium sulfate, boric acid, sodium selenite, chelated iron, potassium fulvate, lysine, a proper amount of hydrogen peroxide, a proper amount of ammonia water, a proper amount of water and the like. The coated controlled release fertilizer is prepared by using the pinecones, the pomegranate barks, the mosses and the sugarcane ash which are matched with nutritional substances through fermentation. The fertilizer is rich in nutrient elements such as fermented small molecular organic matters, calcium, iron, selenium and zinc, is abundant in nutrient and convenient for plants to absorb and utilize, so that the taste and freshness of the ivy mosses can be enhanced; by adopting the coating layer which can supply oxygen and dynamically adjust the porosity, the fertilizer efficiency time is long, organic matter nutrients can be released for a long time, efficient cultivation of the ivy mosses can be realized, and the fertilizer can be widely applied and popularized.

Through the adoption of the method, the novel multi-strain prevention cotton strain-Nannong haidao V is bred. As the molecular marker is taken for assistance to select a target trait, the novel multi-strain prevention cotton strain can be bred in 2 to 3 years fast and effectively. The corresponding disease index of Nannong haidao V is 15.51 to 20.97 percent.
