By applying very high frequency electrical energy to the electrode array, target tissue may be cut or ablated while heat dissipation through low impedance paths, such as blood and normal saline, will be minimized.

A radio frequency (RF) device includes an RF transceiver, an RF antenna, and a magnetic signal detector. The RF is selected to be in the very high frequency (VHF), ultrahigh frequency (UHF), or super high frequency (SHF) bands such that the shielding effect is reduced and the RF device can be configured as a SIM card disposed inside a cellular phone with an increased RF communication range. The magnetic signal detector is used to sense a magnetic field signal from an RF reader, which includes an RF transceiver, an RF antenna, and a magnetic signal transmitter. The longer communication range afforded by the VHF, UHF, or SHF bands is reduced by the sensing of the magnetic field, thereby providing a communication range control, while the RF device and the RF reader exchange information through the RF channel with improved security as a result of the range control.

Method and apparatus for at-speed testing of digital circuits

A scheme for multi-frequency at-speed logic Built-In Self Test (BIST) is provided. This scheme allows at-speed testing of very high frequency integrated circuits controlled by a clock signal generated externally or on-chip. The scheme is also applicable to testing of circuits with multiple clock domains which can be either the same frequency or different frequency. Scanable memory elements of the digital circuit are connected to define plurality of scan chains. The loading and unloading of scan chains is separated from the at-speed testing of the logic between the respective domains and may be done at a faster or slower frequency than the at-speed testing. The BIST controller, Pseudo-Random Pattern Generator (PRPG) and Multi-input Signature Register (MISR) work at slower frequency than the fastest clock domain. After loading of a new test pattern, a clock suppression circuit allows a scan enable signal to propagate for more that one clock cycle before multiple capture clock is applied. This feature relaxes the speed and skew constraints on scan enable signal design. Only the capture cycle is performed at the corresponding system timing. A programmable capture window makes it possible to test every intra- and inter-domain at-speed without the negative impact of clock skew between clock domains.

Method for diversity site group operations in air/ground communications

Shortcomings in conventional Very High Frequency (VHF) Digital Link Mode 3 (VDL-3) communication techniques for implementing air / ground (A / G) diversity site group (DSG) communication are identified and resolved. Beacon schedules are used to coordinate the use of VDL-3 TDMA management slots. Limited autonomy local address management techniques are used to distribute blocks of unique addresses to the ground stations (GS's) of a DSG from a common base of local addresses maintained at a control site, thus assuring that the respective ground stations assign a unique local identifier to each aircraft supported by the DSG. Aircraft supported by a DSG are polled to obtain time of arrival (TOA) and signal quality information used to: intelligently select the transmit ground station and the receive ground station used for communication between an specific aircraft and the control site; and, intelligently manage contiguous communication handoffs of aircraft from one ground station to another ground station of the DSG.

Q-quenching super-regenerative receiver

A super-regenerative receiver uses controlled Q-quenching and may limit the resonant tank circuit amplitude by loading the tank circuit as soon as regenerative oscillation is detected. An amplitude detector is coupled to the regenerative amplifier and controls a Q loading circuit coupled to the tank circuit of the regenerative amplifier. The amplitude detector turns on the Q loading circuit which then stops the regenerative amplifier from oscillating, and the Q-loading remains on for a brief time to insure that the regenerative amplifier has stopped oscillating. After the brief time, the Q loading circuit is turned off and the regenerative amplifier goes into oscillation again. This cycle repeats controllably over and over, resulting in a lower self-induced noise floor and improved received signal sensitivity. The super-regenerative receiver may be used in the very low frequency (VLF), low frequency (LF), medium frequency (MF), high frequency (HF), very high frequency (VHF) and super high frequency (SHF) ranges to receive continuous wave (CW), amplitude modulated (AM) and frequency modulated (FM) radio signals.

In this manner, the state of plasma generation may be varied in each cycle, and when averaged over time, it makes possible uniform plasma generation over a large surface area.

Taste cell sensor using surface acoustic wave resonator and preparation method thereof

The invention relates to a taste cell sensor using a surface acoustic wave resonator. The taste cell sensor includes the surface acoustic wave resonator, which is encapsulated in a metal shell by vacuum. The surface acoustic wave resonator adopts ST cut quartz as a piezoelectric substrate material, is prepared by a photolithography process, the emitted surface acoustic frequency is 433MHZ. The taste cell sensor also includes a silk-screen printing carbon electrode, which is in series connection with the surface acoustic wave resonator. The silk-screen printing carbon electrode is firstly modified by amino acid and then coated with an NCI-H716 cell suspension solution. The taste cell sensor provided by the invention has the advantages of small volume, practicability and convenience, fast electrode response, high sensitivity, good batch repeatability, low cost and the like, can achieve high frequency, and can realize rapid real-time detection. The preparation method has the characteristics of simple preparation process, small material consumption, high process repeatability and controllability, and is convenient for batch production.

Instruction alignment unit for routing variable byte-length instructions

An instruction alignment unit is provided which is capable of routing variable byte length instructions simultaneously to a plurality of decode units which form fixed issue positions within a superscalar microprocessor. The instruction alignment unit may be implemented with a relatively small number of cascaded levels of logic gates, thus accomodating very high frequencies of operation. In one embodiment, the superscalar microprocessor includes an instruction cache for storing a plurality of variable byte-length instructions and a predecode unit for generating predecode tags which identify the location of the start byte of each variable byte-length instruction. An instruction alignment unit is configured to channel a plurality of the variable byte-length instructions simultaneously to predetermined issue positions depending upon the locations of their corresponding start bytes in a cache line. The issue position or positions to which an instruction may be dispatched is limited depending upon the position of the instruction's start byte within a line. By limiting the number of issue positions to which a given instruction within a line may be dispatched, the number of cascaded levels of logic required to implement the instruction alignment unit may be advantageously reduced.

Circuit for reducing losses at light load in a soft switching full bridge converter

A circuit for reducing the internal power losses of a soft switching full bridge converter at light loads and enables very high frequency operation without using a cold plate approach. In a preferred embodiment, the circuit includes a resonant inductor and blocking inductor on the primary side of the converter arranged so as to provide the reduced losses for zero voltage switching bridge converter. The circuit provides the above benefits even for converters having a power transformer with very low leakage inductance. The circuit is not dependent on the presence of a high leakage inductance for the power transformer. The circuit can be used in soft switched half bridge or full bridge converters.
