Apparatus to establish and optimize sedimentation and methane fermentation in primary wastewater ponds

InactiveUS6923906B2Raise the pHIncreases the rate of die-away of pathogenic bacteriaLiquid degasificationMixing methodsSludgeIncrease ph
A method of disposing waste includes the step of forming a primary waste pond called an Advanced Facultative Pond (AFP). A stable microbiological methane fermentation zone is established within the AFP. The system constitutes a complete primary treatment of organic waste and wastewater that does not require daily sludge handling typically associated with organic waste treatment and disposal. The method of the invention converts organic compounds, including settleable solids, into methane. The invention controls sulfide odors from methane fermentation. The invention also provides a method of filtering raw wastewater through a bed of fermenting organic solids suspended by gas evolved in a fermentation zone. Hydrogen sulfide is oxidized in accordance with the invention. The technique of the invention biologically increases pH near the pond surface, thus retaining hydrogen sulfide in solution in the pond water. The biological increasing of the pH level near the pond surface increases the rate of die-away of pathogenic bacteria. The invention transforms proteins and other organic nitrogen compounds to nitrogen gas. The invention also transforms proteins and other organic nitrogen compounds to nitrogen gas; the invention detoxifies chlorinated hydrocarbons and volatile organic compounds; the invention captures and stores gases evolved from methane fermentation; the invention removes heavy metals, while establishing meromixis in fermentation cells or zones within primary wastewater ponds.

Synergistic composition and method for odor control

A synergistic composition and method is provided for controlling odor from waste products. The composition comprises a combination of magnesium hydroxide and a sulfide-consuming compound. The method includes adding a sufficient amount of the composition to a waste stream to provide sufficient sulfide-consuming compound to effect immediate removal of sulfide. The composition incorporates a pH elevating and buffering compound, which both increases and buffers the pH. The increased pH serves to reduce both the volatile sulfide species and the volatile fatty acid (VFAs) species. The elevated pH also promotes the growth of naturally occurring bacteria which metabolize the sulfide to an innocuous form. Finally, addition of the composition drives the pH into a range where the growth of sulfide producing bacteria is inhibited. The mixture has surprisingly been found to be synergistic with respect to both control of chemical species that produce odors and corrosion of metals commonly found in sludge dewatering equipment.

Microstructured water having alkaline pH

A composition includes microstructured water having an increased pH compared to unstructured water. The composition may include dissolved oxygen. The dissolved oxygen may be present in an amount greater than 20 ppm. The microstructured water may have a cluster size of 6-8 molecules, and may have a cluster factor of about at least 30. The microstructured water may have a pH of at least 7.2 when using litmus paper and a pH of at least 8.4 when measured using a pH meter. The composition may include at least one member selected from the group consisting of vitamins, plant extracts, animal extracts, pharmaceutically active agents, flavorants and colorants.

Preparation method of high-capacity monocrystalline type ternary cathode material

A preparation method of a high-capacity monocrystalline type ternary cathode material comprises steps as follows: S1, a nickel cobalt manganese hydroxide precursor of a core-shell structure is prepared with a coprecipitation method, a loose and porous core is prepared by intermittently introducing a certain quantity of bicarbonate at the initial stage of core making, after core making ends, and loose flaky shells are prepared by substantially reducing the rotation speed and increasing pH; meanwhile, at the core-shell transition stage, a dispersant is added to effectively prevent agglomerationof the shells due to decrease of the rotation speed; S2, the prepared precursor and lithium salt are mixed and calcined once in the oxygen-rich atmosphere at the high temperature, and the monocrystalline type ternary cathode material is obtained. A battery is prepared from the ternary cathode material and has high capacity and good safety performance due to high lithium ion transport efficiency and reduced anisotropy in crystals. The problem of poor capacity of the material because of low lithium ion transport efficiency of monocrystalline type ternary materials is effectively solved. Besides, the monocrystalline type ternary cathode material is prepared through one-time sintering, the preparation procedure is simple, and the production cost is low.

Microcapsules for self-repairing of asphalt micro-damage and preparation method of microcapsules

The invention provides microcapsules for the self-repairing of asphalt micro-damage and a preparation method of the microcapsules and relates to the field of building materials. The core material of the microcapsules is an asphalt regenerating agent, and the wall material of the microcapsules is melamine-urea-formaldehyde resin. The preparation method includes: adding melamine, urea and formaldehyde into deionized water, stirring, and regulating pH until the solution is clear and transparent to obtain a prepolymer solution; adding sodium dodecyl sulfate into deionized water, stirring until thesodium dodecyl sulfate is dissolved completely, adding the regenerating agent, performing high-speed shearing and emulsification to obtain a core material emulsion; adding the prepolymer solution into the core material emulsion while stirring, heating at the same time, lowering pH, performing reaction for 4 hours, and increasing pH to end the reaction; allowing a microcapsule suspension to stand, cooling to room temperature, filtering, repeatedly washing with deionized water, and drying to obtain the microcapsules. The microcapsules and the preparation method have the advantages that the microcapsules prepared by an in-situ polymerization method is good in high-temperature stability and mechanical strength and capable of effectively enhancing the self-healing ability of asphalt.

Preparation method of supported catalyst for regenerating amine solution rich in carbon dioxide

The invention discloses a preparation method of a supported catalyst for regenerating an amine solution rich in carbon dioxide. The supported catalyst is obtained by loading a catalyst to a carrier. The carrier is gamma-Al2O3. The catalyst is a metal oxide-carrying sulfate radical-type solid superacid catalyst. The preparation method comprises (1) dissolving a metal salt in water, adding gamma-Al2O3 powder into the solution and carrying out mixing to obtain a mixed solution A, (2) increasing pH of the mixed solution A so that the metal salt is hydrolyzed to form precipitates, and aging the precipitates to obtain a mixed solution B, (3) carrying out solid-liquid separation on the mixed solution B, washing the separated solids, and then drying the solids to obtain a substance C, and (4) grinding the substance C to obtain powder, adding the powder into a solution containing sulfate radical ions, carrying out stirring and impregnating, separating the solids and washing, drying and calcining the solids to obtain the supported catalyst. The supported catalyst has excellent catalysis and desorption performances. The supported catalyst has catalytic performance superior to that of traditional catalysts such as H-ZSM-5 and gamma-Al2O3.
