This invention relates to a generic process for producing a refractory oxide which comprises reacting liquid water with: at least one metal fluoride reactant; or at least one metal fluoride reactant and at least one metal oxide reactant; or at least one metal oxide reactant and an aqueous hydrogen fluoride solution, to produce either a colloidal mixture or a solution; drying either the colloidal mixture or solution; heating the dried product to produce a solid state metal hydroxyfluoride; heating the hydroxyfluoride to a temperature at which it chemically decomposes into a cationically-homogeneous and nanostructured solid state metal oxyfluoride; and performing one of the following heating steps: (i) to a solid state decomposition-temperature where the oxyfluoride chemically decomposes into a refractory oxide; or, (ii) to a molten state decomposition-temperature where the oxyfluoride chemically decomposes into a refractory oxide; or, (iii) to a vapor state decomposition-temperature where the oxyfluoride chemically decomposes into a refractory oxide.

A laser processing method including a first step of forming a first groove and a second step of forming a second groove on the workpiece. In the first step, the laser beam is intermittently applied to the first street except the intersections between the first street and the second street, thereby forming a discontinuous groove as the first groove in such a manner that each intersection is not grooved. A milking system for extracting milk from milk producing animals and especially with elements for taking samples of the extracted milk includes in a flow direction from the animal: milk extracting elements for attachment to the animal, a milk conduit and a suction source, wherein the suction source is arranged to provide a vacuum to draw milk from the animal to a container. The milk extracting elements are adapted to provide air and milk intermittently into the milk conduit and are connected to the container via the milk conduit. The system also includes a milk sample conduit which is connected to the milk conduit. The milk conduit includes a bend for creating acceleration forces in the flow, and the sample conduit is connected to the milk conduit at the bend so as to sample milk subjected to the acceleration forces.

Further is described a method for manufacturing a connection pin comprising: providing a connection pin with a cavity in a contact part of the pin, and providing at least one opening in a wall of the cavity, preparing at least one solder preform, and inserting at least one solder preform into the cavity.
