Maskless Doping Technique for Solar Cells

A improved, lower cost method of producing solar cells utilizing selective emitter design is disclosed. The contact regions are created on the substrate without the use of lithography or masks. The method utilizes ion implantation technology, and the relatively low accuracy requirements of the contact regions to reduce the process steps needed to produce a solar cell. In some embodiments, the current of the ion beam is selectively modified to create the highly doped contact regions. In other embodiments, the ion beam is focused, either through the use of an aperture or via adjustments to the beam line components to create the necessary doping profile. In still other embodiments, the wafer scan rate is modified to create the desired ion implantation pattern.

Normally closed solenoid valve

To minimize the amount of air that may enter the damper chamber in a normally closed solenoid valve to stably maintain the damper capacity, the normally closed solenoid valve has a valve housing and a movable element. A cylinder having an open end is formed in one of the valve housing and the movable element. The cylinder has an inner diameter smaller than the outer diameter of a trunk of the movable element. A piston provided on the other of the valve chamber and the movable element is movable relative to the cylinder as the movable member moves. The piston is inserted into the cylinder through its open end to define a damper chamber between the piston and the cylinder. A restricted passage is formed between the damper chamber and the valve chamber through which hydraulic fluid can be moved between the valve chamber and the damper chamber.

System and method for reducing NOx emissions during transient conditions in a diesel fueled vehicle with EGR

The present invention is a dual-stage fuel injection strategy for compression ignition engines in which 15-40% of the fuel is injected into the combustion chamber no later than about −20 to −30 CA ATDC and as early as IVC. The remaining fuel is then injected in one or more fuel pulses, none of which start before about −20 to −30 CA ATDC. The fuel injected early in the compression stroke forms a lean mixture that burns with low soot and low NOx emissions. The combustion of that fuel serves to increase in-cylinder temperature such that the ignition delay of subsequent fuel injection pulses is short. This mode is utilized when it is predicted that a NOx spike is imminent. Various other alternative methods for reducing NOx spikes are also disclosed such as specialized EGR systems that can provide EGR with low manifold vacuum.
