297 results about "Infill" patented technology

In urban planning infill is the rededication of land in an urban environment, usually open-space, to new construction. Infill also applies within an urban polity to construction on any undeveloped land that is not on the urban margin. The slightly broader term "land-recycling" is sometimes used instead. Infill has been promoted as an economical use of existing infrastructure and a remedy for urban sprawl. Its detractors view it as overloading urban services, including increased traffic congestion and pollution, and decreasing urban green-space.

Synthetic turf

The present invention provides new types of synthetic turf. The synthetic turf includes a pile fabric having a backing (1) and tufts (2) projecting therefrom. In one embodiment, at least a number of the tufts are made of a composite yarn formed by at least one fibrillated yarn (6) together with a number of individual filament yarns (7), in particular with so-called monofilament or monotape yarns. The fibrillated yarn and the individual filament yarns are preferably made of polyethylene so that the synthetic turf is sliding-friendly. In another embodiment, at least a number of the tufts are made of a composite yarn formed by monotape yarns twisted together with a number of the monofilament yarns. The monofilament and monotape yarns are preferably made of polyethylene so that the synthetic turf is sliding-friendly. The combination of a fibrillated yarn and individual filament yarns or the combination of monofilament and monotape yarns in a composite yarn allows immediate achievement of the look of natural grass, that is, without post-fibrillation, and avoids any visible difference in wear pattern between the different types of yarns. In another embodiment, the invention also provides improved particulate material for use as infill material for top-dressing a synthetic turf.

Artificial turf with granule retaining fibers

An artificial turf is provided that resists migration of rubber infill into the space above the turf. Artificial grass is attached to and extends upward from a backing material, which may be one or more layers. The artificial grass includes groups of at least two different kinds of fiber sewn through a common path in the backing material. One of the kinds of fibers is an artificial grass blade shaped so as to appear like a blade of grass. The other kind of fiber in each group is pre-stressed / crimped so that the relaxed shape of the fiber is nonlinear, resembling a curlicued or articulated form having lateral excursions. The lateral excursions cause portions of one such pre-stressed fiber to overlap and interfere with another, forming a mesh. The height of the pre-stressed fibers in their relaxed state in the turf is less than the height of the relatively unstressed fiber(s). Resilient granules are embedded in the mesh, and are captivated by the interfering pre-stressed fibers. In one embodiment, the pre-stressed fiber is constructed of nylon material, and the relatively unstressed artificial grass blade of polyethylene.

Propulsion linearizing mechanism

A propulsion linearizing mechanism is provided for linearizing a fluid flow. The mechanism includes a frame having a cylindrical outer baffle which rotatably supports a plurality of propeller elements thereon. Each propeller element defines a respective sweep area as the propeller element is rotated which overlaps sweep areas of adjacent propeller elements. The outer baffle circumscribes an outer periphery of the collective sweep areas of the respective propeller elements. The propeller elements rotate in the same direction whereby forces of curvature flow of adjacent propeller elements substantially cancel one another to linearize fluid flow through the mechanism. Additional baffles and infills within the areas of non blade sweep may be provided for particular applications of the mechanism. In various applications, linear forces of vector flow are formed by integrating curvature forces of tangential flow and economy flow systems are established to increase force potentials on the planes of rotating propellers to provide the emission and induction flow with an insulation whereby fluid in the immediate vicinity of the mobile flow remains in an undisturbed static state. This allows a fluid propulsion assembly to be fitted with an outer utility mantle in the static zone of the field.

Reinforced masonry panel structures

A method of constructing a masonry infill in a load bearing structure comprises the steps of: laying one or more courses of masonry (7) in the infill space; partitioning off a casting space having as its base the then uppermost course of masonry (22); the casting space extending from one side of the infill space to the other; positioning reinforcing material (14) in the casting space; securing an end of the reinforcing material to the load bearing structure; filling the casting space with concrete (20), and laying one or more further courses of masonry on top of the filled casting space. The reinforced concrete forms a bond beam which strengthens the masonry. The reinforcing material may be rebar, secured to a load-bearing frame of the building by a cleat (16) having pockets (12) for reception of the rebar ends. Optionally the reinforcement may be tensioned, to pre-stress the bond beam. The bond beam may also be used to strengthen bonded, load-bearing masonry panels in bending, without being secured to an adjacent load-bearing structure.
