Black out correction device

A black out correction device according to the present invention comprises a correction level storage, a comparator and a selector. The correction level storage memorizes a signal level equal to an original signal level of a sampled signal outputted from an image sensing device when a black out is generated in a video created based on the sampled signal as a high-brightness clamping level. The comparator compares the signal level of sampled signal to a reference level for judging whether or not the black out is generated. The selector selects and outputs the high-brightness clamping level when a result of the comparison by the comparator shows that the signal level falls below the reference level, while selecting and outputting the sampled signal when the comparison result shows otherwise.

Drive device and drive method of a light emitting display panel

Provided is a drive device and a drive method of a light emitting display panel in which shadowing generated due to the lighting ratio of light emitting elements and a dimmer setting condition can be reduced to a level at which there is no problem for practical use. An analog video signal is supplied to a drive control circuit 11 and an A / D conversion circuit 12 and is converted into image data which corresponds to each pixel in the A / D conversion circuit 12 to be written in an image memory 13. The image data is read out of the image memory 13 for each scan, and the drive control circuit 11 obtains a rate of EL elements which are to be controlled to emit light (lighting ratio of light emitting elements for each scan). Based on the lighting ratio and dimmer setting data, precharge control data is read out of a look up table 14, and a precharge voltage VAM based on the precharge control data is supplied to a data driver 2. Thus, the precharge amount in the parasitic capacitances of the light emitting elements is changed, and as a result, the occurrence rate of shadowing can be restrained.

Photon counting

A method for photon counting for pixels in a pixelated detector is disclosed, wherein for each of the pixels, one or more neighbouring pixels are defined. The method comprises receiving a charge in one or more of the pixels and comparing for each of the pixels the charge with a trigger threshold. If the charge in a pixel is above the trigger threshold, the charge is registered in the pixel after a registration delay, wherein the registration delay is dependent on the level of the charge received in the pixel in such a way that a registration delay decreases with increasing charge. A counter for a pixel is incremented when the charge is registered and an increment of a counter of the neighbouring pixels is inhibited. Pixelated semiconductor detectors are also disclosed.
