Adaptive load distribution in managing dynamic and transient data for distributed applications

A method, system, and computer program for dynamically adjusting the workload of an active resource associated with at least one parent workload group. The parent workload group includes a collection of workload units, with each associated to a key identifier such that workload units belonging to the parent workload group share an identical sequence of values at a specified depth value of the key identifier. The active resource independently determines whether an overload condition exists. If an overload condition exists, the depth value of the parent workload group is increased. The active resource may also consolidate a workload group if an under-load condition exists. Dynamically adjusting the workload of an active resource can be used as part of a method or system to dynamically adjust the workload of a distributed computing application across a dynamically varying set of active resources, and subsequently redirecting entities to the dynamically changing target resource.

In a method and an arrangement for controlling printing by a thermotransfer printing apparatus with relative movement between a thermotransfer print head and a print medium, a microprocessor that provides pixel energy data to a pixel energy memory by making an energy value calculation and by coding, and a print data controller prepares the pixel energy data by decoding during the printing in a number (corresponding to the pixel energy value) of binary pixel data each with the same binary value. The print data controller includes at least one pixel energy data preparation unit, a DMA controller, an address generator, a printer controller and a phase counter. The DMA controller allows an access to the pixel energy data stored in the pixel energy memory as code in order to provide the pixel energy data in print columns to the at least one pixel energy data preparation unit. The address generator generates addresses for selection of the buffered code during each phase of a number of phases. The phase counter supplies a phase count value to a phase data preparation unit in which the code value A and phase count value B are compared in order to generated binary pixel data, which are serially supplied from the output D to at least one shift register of the thermotransfer print head.

Starting apparatus for internal combustion engine and automobile

An idling stop control of the invention attains an auto start and an auto stop of an engine. At a time point t1, pre-set stop conditions are met to cut off a fuel supply to the engine. Preset starting conditions may be met at a time point t2 when the engine still continues rotating in a normal direction by the inertial force. In this state, the idling stop control starts cranking the engine. The preset starting conditions may be met at a time point t4 when a piston does not complete a compression cycle immediately before a stop of the engine but is pressed back by the compressed air to rotate the engine in a reverse direction. In this state, the idling stop control waits until cancellation of the reverse rotation of the engine and then starts cranking the engine. The arrangement of the invention desirably ensures a quick start of the engine, while effectively preventing an excess stress from acting on a gear mechanism, which connects a starter motor to the engine.

Adjustment pipe for fuel injection valve, and press-fitting structure and press-fitting method for the same

In a fuel injection valve, an adjustment pipe made of stainless steel and for adjusting a compression amount of a spring biasing a valve member is press-fitted into a cylindrical housing made of stainless steel, and a fuel injection amount is adjusted by adjusting a spring force of the spring in accordance with a press-fitted amount of the adjustment pipe. The adjustment pipe is immersed in an oxalic acid solution so that an oxalate film is formed thereon before being press-fitted into the cylindrical housing. Therefore, the oxalate film prevents a direct press-contact between an outer peripheral surface of the adjustment pipe and an inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical housing.
