An apparatus and method for mixing fluids and / or solids in a manner that can be varied from maintaining the integrity of fragile molecular and biological materials in the mixing vessel to homogenizing heavy aggregate material by supplying large amounts of energy. Variation in the manner of mixing is accomplished using an electronic controller to generate signals to control the frequency and amplitude of the motor(s), which drive an unbalanced shaft assembly to produce a linear vibratory motion. The motor may be a stepper motors a linear motor or a DC continuous motor. By placing a sensor on the mixing vessel platform to provide feedback control of the mixing motor, the characteristics of agitation in the fluid or solid can be adjusted to optimize the degree of mixing and produce a high quality mixant.

The phase counter supplies a phase count value to a phase data preparation unit in which the code value A and phase count value B are compared in order to generated binary pixel data, which are serially supplied from the output D to at least one shift register of the thermotransfer print head.

Carbon Nanotubes As Charge Carriers In Organic and Hybrid Solar Cells

Organic and organic / inorganic hybrid bulk heterojunction photovoltaic devices with improved efficiencies are disclosed. The organic photovoltaic device comprises a photoactive polymer:fullerene C60-carbon nanotube (polymer:C60-CNT) composite as a component of the active layer. Under light irradiation, photoinduced charge separation at the polymer:C60 interface is followed by electron transfer from C60 onto CNTs for efficient electron transport towards an electrode. The organic / inorganic hybrid photovoltaic device comprises quantum dots and carbon nanotubes. Power conversion efficiency enhancement methods of polymer-CNT based photovoltaics are also provided.

A cooling system and method that significantly improves spray evaporative cooling by using a mixture of cooling fluids having different boiling points. The cooling fluid mixture is sprayed onto a surface to be cooled. Efficient cooling with reduced cooling fluid volume is provided by both evaporation of the more volatile component of the mixture as well as heating of the less volatile component which remains in contact with the surface being cooled. More uniform temperatures across the surface being cooled and a reduced risk of potentially damaging critical heat flux is achieved.

In each of the priority zones, the upper car or the lower car is preferentially brought into service. In the common-use zone, after the existence or nonexistence of interference with a counterpart car is determined, the upper car or the lower car is caused to make an entry and is brought into service and, after a response, the upper car or the lower car is caused to escape from the common-use zone and is caused to retreat to an escape floor.
