Method and apparatus of mechanical stage positioning in virtual microscopy image capture

A method and apparatus for creating a magnified composite image of a microscope specimen comprises making error corrections for imprecise movements of the specimen relative to an objective lens when capturing data for first and second images. A correction offset is computed based on a comparison of data for overlapped portions of the first and second images and then the specimen is moved through a distance modified by the correction offset for capture of a subsequent tiled image. Image center portions are retained as the data structure tile. The area about the center portion is used to align images and to compensate for stage inaccuracies and to provide a feedback signal for a drive system. Differences in X,Y coordinates for macro and micro view images may be used as navigation offsets to view a selected point for the micro image marked on the macro image.

Engineering change order process optimization

A method for reaching signoff closure in an ECO (engineering change order) process involves the use of violation context data from the signoff tool as the basis for design layout modifications in an implementation tool. The violation context data includes violation information other than violation location / path information. Because the signoff tool, and more specifically, the signoff algorithm used by that tool is the most accurate model of actual IC behavior, the use of violation context data generated by the signoff tool to implement changes to the design layout will generally produce appropriate and effective results. By accessing this violation context data from the signoff tool, an implementation tool need not rely on its less accurate implementation analysis to determine the optimal design layout modifications for correcting violations detected by the signoff tool.

MEMS actuator with lower power consumption and lower cost simplified fabrication

A microactuator device is disclosed that includes a plurality of generally parallel thin flexible sheets bonded together in a predetermined pattern to form an array of unit cells. Preferably, each of the sheets has only a single electrode layer located on one side of the sheet. Pairs of such sheets are then bonded together at spaced bonding locations with the electrode layers facing one another. Several sets of such sheet pairs can then be bonded together to form a microactuator device.

Methods and Devices for Programmable Delivery of Microdoses of Liquid Drugs and Other Fluids

Methods and compact automatic devices are provided for delivery of micro doses of liquid drugs to a patient. Devices have a fluid supply reservoir comprising an expandable indicator supplied with a sensor, a mechanism forcing the fluid to squeeze predetermined dose out, and a processor treating sensor's signals accordingly to preprogrammed algorithm. The method comprises steps: (a) initiating the delivery cycle, (b) acquiring sensor's signals, (c) treating signals in order to integrate an intensity of output flow and to determine when the squeezing-out force must be terminated, (d) terminating the cycle accordingly to processor's command. Self-testing of devices occurs while each fluid delivery cycle. Their high dosing precision exceeds that of known analogs about two orders of magnitude. A possibility to use low cost disposable exit port assembly and / or easy replaceable factory pre-filled cartridges is an additional advantage eliminating risks of overdosing, air bubbles, and / or compromised sterility.

Methods, program products, and systems for multi-tier geofence detection are disclosed. In general, in one aspect, a mobile device can be configured to perform a task when the mobile device enters a geographic region. The mobile device can monitor a current location using a multi-tier approach. A baseband subsystem can monitor a coarse location of the mobile device using various course location parameters, such as a mobile country code (MCC), a location area code (LAC), or a cell identifier (cell ID), as the mobile device moves closer to the geographic region. Upon determining that the mobile device is in a cell that intersects the geographic region, the baseband subsystem can transfer the monitoring to the application subsystem. The task can be performed when the application subsystem determines that the mobile device is currently located in the geographic region.

Controlling superplastic forming with gas mass flow meter

The forming time necessary to superplastically form an object from a metal sheet is estimated by empirical analysis. The required rate of gas mass flow into a forming cavity is then determined using either a nomograph composed of four interrelated graphs, or a single graph which requires the input of fewer variables than the nomograph. The present invention may also be used to form cells of multiple sheet panels from a stack of sheets. In the latter application, forming time necessary to complete forming of the cells from an interim point where the core sheet forming pressure and the die temperature are increased from interim levels to their final values is estimated by empirical analysis. A nomograph or single graph of the present invention then determines the gas mass flow rate necessary to safely and efficiently complete forming of the cells from the foregoing interim point. In both of the foregoing embodiments, the required gas mass flow rate, which is a target value, is maintained by regulating the forming pressure until the final forming pressure is reached.

Accumulator for water management

Embodiments of disclosure provide an intermediate accumulator that can receive and hold water prior to its delivery to a vacuum toilet or other water-using source. The pump required to move water from the reservoir to the intermediate accumulator can be much lighter and smaller than pumps previously required in systems that do not use an intermediate accumulator. Providing an intermediate accumulator can provide a more constant flush by holding the pressure inside the accumulator more constant, by equalizing the pressure, and by lowering the total volume required per flush. The accumulator can store energy in the water and deliver it to a water-using source using less energy and requiring less volume.

Synchronized pulses identify and locate targets rapidly

Stimulation of a sensor array, by edges comprising a feature pattern, optical characters or moving edge(s), emits pulses that converge at nodes in serial arrays, which reemit rapidly if input pulses are in temporal synchrony. The repetitive pulses traverse the serial arrays without encoding image features in a temporal data stream that decodes as an image frame. This dimensional reduction of serial arrays reemits convergent one-dimensional (1D) pulses in greater numbers when stimulus feature patterns match sensor or node topographical patterns, thereby serially extracting context, optical flow and inference. Reemitted 1D pulses rapidly identify and locate looming targets without repetitive feedback.

Chunk retention in a distributed object storage system using stream sessions and stream session backreferences

The present disclosure provides an advantageous systems and related methods for scalable object storage. In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, a stream session is opened to initiate a retention epoch during which a series of edits to an object by a source may be performed without seeing edits from other stream sessions. Backreferences identifying the stream session (i.e. stream session backreferences) are applied to retained chunks. While a payload chunk has one or more such associated stream session backreferences, the chunk is retained and not expunged. Advantageously, transitory chunks that are put during the retention epoch may be unput promptly so as to release valuable cache resources. In comparison, the prior approach only eventually releases the data storage resources for expunged version manifests. Other embodiments, aspects and features are also disclosed.
