Control of Mobile Packet Streams

The invention relates to a method, device and system for control of mobile packet flows forwarded between IP based networks. Individual packet flows on an IP user plane (6) traverse middleboxes (13, 14, 23, 24) that are controlled from a midcom agent (15, 21). Each user flow registers its presence (29) in each middlebox it encounters on its way from its source (A) to its destination (B) at the user plane. In response each middlebox registers itself and the mobile flows it handles at the midcom agent with which they communicate using a midcom signalling protocol. The midcom agent comprises functionalities that its controlled middleboxes have and can provide control messages for how a middlebox shall handle a registered flow. The registration provides the midcom agent (15, 21) with knowledge of registered flows and middleboxes which allows the midcom agent to send control orders to the middleboxes that registered themselves, said orders pertaining to the handling of the flows at the respective middleboxes. A mechanism for control signalling at the IP control plane is described.

Methods and apparatus for ink delivery to nanolithographic probe systems

Inkwells adapted for use in direct-write nanolithography and other applications including use of wells, channels, and posts. The wells can possess a geometry which matches the geometry of tips which are dipped into the inkwells. The channels can be open or closed. Hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity can be used to control ink flow. SEM can be used to characterize the inkwells. Ink flow can be monitored with video. Hydrophobic material layers can be used to prevent cross contamination. Microsyringes can be used to fill reservoirs. Satellite reservoirs can be used to prevent bubble formation.

Content-adaptive block artifact removal in spatial domain

An image processing method and system removes block artifacts in compressed image / video. Block artifacts are detected based on content analysis performed based on knowledge of the contents of the image / video. Then, a set of priority conditions is evaluated to generate a detection decision for each pixel at the block boundary. A higher priority is given to a short-term temporal processing result and a spatial processing result. The long-term temporal processing result and quantization information are treated as auxiliary information to adjust the strength of filtering. Depending on the result of the detection decision, appropriate filtering is applied to the pixel to remove the block artifacts.

System and process for persistent marking of flexo plates and plates marked therewith

PendingUS20200016916A1Avoids non-printing indicia interfering with printing featureInhibition featurePhotomechanical apparatusPlate printingGraphicsPolymer science
Systems and processes for making a flexo plate, and plates made thereby. Non-printing indicia defined by areas of presence and absence of polymer in the plate floor created using microdots imaged during a LAMS layer imaging step are readable downstream of the washing or other non-cured-polymer-removal step but not to print in the printing step. The non-printing indicia may define a repeating pattern of alphanumeric characters, non-text graphics, or a combination thereof. A difference in growth of plate structures corresponding to different types of microdots may be used for characterizing processing conditions.

Interactive media system and method for presenting pause-time content

Interactive media systems and methods are provided for substituting pause-time content in place of media that has been paused. The user may pause media such as real-time media, video-on-demand media, near video-on-demand, or recorded media. If the user pauses real-time media or near video-on-demand media, the interactive media application may store the media. The interactive media application may also provide the user with the ability to rewind, resume play of, and fast-forward the media. The pause-time content may be audio or video media and may be an advertisement, trivia, program summaries or any other suitable pause-time content. The interactive media application may provide customized pause-time content specific to the user or specific to the media paused by using media data associated with the media. The interactive media application may also prevent the user from accessing features (e.g., fast-forward) of the system.

Method and apparatus for separating a stamper from a patterned substrate

A method and apparatus are disclosed for separating a stamper from a patterned substrate. The method includes providing a substrate having a top and a bottom with an opening therein, providing a support mechanism configured to retain the substrate, providing a stamper having a formed pattern and configured to come in contact with the top of the substrate, wherein a chamber is formed within the opening of the substrate when the stamper is in contact with the substrate, providing a channel directed toward the chamber to introduce pressurized air into the chamber, and directing pressured air through the channel to the chamber to initiate separation of the stamper from the substrate. In certain embodiments, the pressurized air may be directed toward an opening in the substrate, such as a central ID hole in a disk. The disk may be incorporated within a storage device as pattered magnetic media.

Lamp apparatus with alarm function

InactiveUS20070222627A1Avoiding unsightly featureInhibition featureFire alarm smoke/gas actuationEngineeringAlarm device
A lamp apparatus with an alarm function is disclosed, which includes a power supply circuit and a base, and a light and a gas warning apparatus mounted on the base. The gas warning apparatus comprises an alarm device and a gas sensor. The gas sensor transmits an actuating signal to the alarm device for triggering the alarm device to actuate an alarm correspondingly when the gas sensor detects a hazardous gas. Therefore, the gas warning apparatus mounted within the lamp not only uses the power of the lamp for supplying the necessary power continuously but also eliminates unsightly other wiring.

Apparatus and method for low noise imaging

An apparatus and method for low noise imaging uses an image sensor, such as an EMCCD in which charges are accumulated and shifted out using analog clock signals. A sensor controller generates the clock signals from digital waveforms stored in memory units that provide outputs to digital-to-analog converters that, in turn, convert the signals to analog form. The analog signals are then amplified and applied to the sensor. The specific waveforms are determined by a digital signal processor and stored in the memories, and the desired waveforms are read out the memories using addressing provided by a field-programmable gate array. The clock signals may be sinusoids, or may be more complex waveform shapes, and the waveform shapes may be varied by a user. The clock signal rise times may be made gradual so as to minimize noise contributions.
