Food supplement and use thereof for elevating levels of essential fatty acids in livestock and products therefrom

This invention describes feed supplement, and processes which increase the amount of essential fatty acids in the milk, eggs, meat and other by-products from animals including dairy cattle, beef cattle, goats and poultry. The food supplement described herein includes specific fish meal, fish oil, algae or plant dietary supplements combined with a natural ingredient / coating mixture, which can be either talc, clay or combinations; or mixtures of talc or clay with flax sprout powder to achieve enhanced levels of the essential fatty acids in the milk, eggs, meat and processed livestock products from animals fed this dietary supplement. In ruminants, the natural ingredient / coating mixture prevents microbial degradation of the essential fatty acids in the rumen stomach of the animals fed with this composition, thus providing more of the essential fatty acids to the animal, for their use. This in turn results in improved concentrations in the milk, meat and processed products from these animals. Poultry fed with this food supplement also have a higher concentration of essential fatty acids in their eggs and meat.

A thermal insulation blanket for an aircraft engine, and processes for producing the thermal insulation blanket to have low thermal conductivity and high temperature capability. The thermal insulation blanket has a layered construction that includes an aerogel insulation material, a composite layer disposed at a first surface of the aerogel insulation material, and a backing layer disposed at an opposite surface of the aerogel insulation material so that the aerogel insulation material is encapsulated between the composite and backing layers. The composite layer contains a resin matrix material reinforced with a fiber reinforcement material.

Pressurized fluid coupler with anti-recoil feature and methods

The invention is directed to apparatus and methods for reducing recoil during uncoupling of pressurized couplers. The apparatus includes a male: a female component; and a check valve fluidly disposed between a proximal end and a distal end within one of the male component or female component. When the component including the check valve is pressurized, the check valve assumes a normally closed state. Upon coupling of the male component with the female component, the check valve is caused to open through the interaction of a probe linked to the check valve which contacts a portion of the opposing coupler, thereby opening the check valve and permitting pressurized fluid flow between the two components. At least one radially directed port fluidly couples the interface between the male and female couplers with the environment, which may be formed in one or both couplers.
