Methods and apparatus to allocate acknowledgement channels

Methods and apparatus for allocating acknowledgement channels in a communication network. A linking scheme is established between indices of a plurality of physical hybrid automatic repeat-request indicator channels (PHICHs), and a combination of indices of control channel elements (CCEs) or indices of physical resource blocks (PRBs) and indices of demodulation reference signals (DMRSs). A base station (BS) transmits a scheduling grant to a unit of user equipment (UE) by using a plurality of CCEs. In response to receiving a data packet and a DMRS from the UE, the BS determines an index of a PHICH within the plurality of PHICHs in dependence upon at least one index of the CCEs used to transmit the scheduling grant or at least one index of the PRBs used to transmit the data packet, and an index of the transmitted DMRS in accordance with the linking scheme established. Finally, the BS transmits an acknowledgement signal to the UE by using the PHICH indicated by the determined index.

Prefetch mechanism for bus master memory access

A system and method for optimizing memory bus bandwidth, is achieved by utilization of the memory bus, either by utilizing the idle time of the memory bus, or by prioritizing prefetch requests to exploit the bank structure of the external memory. When a bus master of the memory bus makes a request to access a particular line in a memory device, the memory controller generates a request for accessing a line next to the current line that is requested by the bus master. Data corresponding to the next line is retrieved from the memory device and stored in the memory-controller when the memory bus is idle. The stored data may be served to a bus master upon request for the data. However, the memory bus is not engaged when the data stored in the memory controller is served. Therefore idle time of the memory bus is utilized.

Cooling module

A cooling module includes a thermal conductive member. An endoergic chamber, a radiative chamber and a circulation pump chamber are defined along the thermal conductive member. The thermal conductive member contacts a heat generating object outside the endoergic chamber. The thermal energy is transferred to the coolant in the endoergic chamber. The coolant then flows into the radiative chamber. The thermal energy of the coolant is taken away in the radiative chamber. The thermal energy is radiated from the outer wall surface of the radiative chamber. This cooling cycle is repeated so that an efficient cooling operation can be realized in the cooling module. Arrangement of the endoergic, radiative and circulation pump chambers along the thermal conductive member leads to a minimized height of the cooling module.

Efficient execution of color space processing functions in a graphics processing unit

A pixel shader program for execution by a processing unit in a graphics processing module is designed to execute a color space processing function on individual pixels of a video image. The color space processing function is broken down into series of steps, each of which is amenable to representation by an individual instruction taken from an instruction set. The instructions cause the processor to load pixel color data into first memory elements, to read the first memory elements as well as second memory elements containing pre-loaded parameters representative of the color space processing function and to generate a processed set of color data for each pixel by manipulating the first and second memory elements. In this way, color space processing functionality, such as color space conversion and procamp controls, is provided without the need for specialized hardware and without encroaching upon the computational efficiency of the host CPU.
