73 results about "Sedative" patented technology

A sedative or tranquilliser is a substance that induces sedation by reducing irritability or excitement. They are central nervous depressants and interact with brain activity causing its deceleration. Various kinds of sedatives can be distinguished, but the majority of them affect the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which are brain chemicals performing communication between brain cells. In spite of the fact that each sedative acts in its own way, they produce beneficial relaxing effect by increasing GABA activity.

Combinations of Eszopiclone and an Antidepressant

One aspect of the present invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions containing two or more active agents that when taken together can be used to treat, e.g., menopause, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, or cognitive disorders. The first component of the pharmaceutical composition is a sedative eszopiclone. The second component of the pharmaceutical composition is an antidepressant. The present invention also relates to a method of treating menopause, perimenopause, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and cognitive disorders.

Accelerated opiate dependence detoxification process

The present invention provides accelerated detoxification methods for the treatment of a substance abuse-related condition in a subject. A method of the present invention may comprise administering to the subject an effective amount of at least one sedative (e.g, clonidine, diazepam, or olanzapine) and a micro-dose of an opioid antagonist (e.g., naltrexone or naloxone) for at least one day; optionally administering a small dose of an opiate, and administering to the subject a detoxifying amount of a second opioid antagonist (e.g., naloxone); and may further comprise administering to the subject a third opioid antagonist (such as, naltrexone) for an extended period of time (e.g., 12 months).

Pediatric anesthesia induction oral administration formulation and preparation method thereof

The invention provides a pediatric anesthesia induction oral administration formulation and a preparation method thereof. The formulation consists of a solid sedative and a plastic inner core, wherein the solid sedative consists of cane sugar, maltose and raw material medicaments; the plastic inner core consists of a spherical plastic core and a plastic rod; the solid sedative is coated on the surface of the spherical plastic core; and the spherical plastic core consists of a spherical inner core and ridge-shaped convex strips which are symmetrically and longitudinally distributed on the surface of the spherical inner core. The preparation method comprises the following steps of: mixing the cane sugar and the maltose; heating under normal pressure and stirring to obtain syrup; adding the raw material medicaments into the syrup according to the amount of the sedative; stirring until the raw material medicaments are fully dissolved to obtain a liquid sedative; and uniformly coating the liquid sedative onto the surface of the spherical plastic core and naturally cooling for molding to obtain the pediatric anesthesia induction oral administration formulation. The pediatric anesthesia induction oral administration formulation is in the lollipop form, is easily accepted by children, makes induction convenient and practicable and avoids the undesirable psychological effects of intramuscular injection and intravenous injection on the children.

System for controlling means for injection of anesthetics or sedatives

A system comprising means for obtaining a signal representative of the electrocortical activity of the patient, means for analyzing this signal in order to derive from it a signal of depth of anaesthesia, means for monitoring the value and development over time of this signal of depth of anaesthesia, these means being associated with means for calculation of control commands of the injection means, in order to regulate automatically in closed loop the signal of depth of anaesthesia in a predetermined range around a target value, and in that the means for injection of anaesthetics comprise first means for injection of a hypnotic that receive control commands at a first frequency, and second means for injection of a morphinomimetic that receive control commands at a second frequency higher than the first frequency.

Rapid opioid detoxification

Rapid opioid detoxification procedures are provided which include sedating a patient with an anesthetic agent having a short full recovery period. The patient is administered an opioid antagonist while sedated and can be revived to an ambulatory condition within eight hours of initiating therapy. The described methods for detoxification also include administering a diarrhea suppressant, such as octreotide acetate, to limit this unfortunate side effect of the detoxification.
