The invention relates to the technical field of elevator industry, in particular to a block type electromagnetic brake of an elevator. The block type electromagnetic brake of the elevator comprises an electromagnet and a housing, wherein the electromagnet, a female iron core and a male iron core are all arranged in the housing, one end of the female iron core and one end of the male iron core are hinged with the top ends of two brake arms through connection rods after respectively stretched out of the housing, the middle end of each brake arms is hinged with one end of a cantilever, the bottoms of the two brake arms are connected together through a screw and a nut, a brake spring is arranged between the nut and the bottom end of each brake arm, brake tiles are symmetrically arranged on the inner walls of the two brake arms, brake rubber blocks are fixedly arranged on the outer surfaces of the brake tiles, and the brake tiles are connected with the brake arms through air bags. When the block type electromagnetic brake of the elevator is used, impact force generated during the brake process is greatly reduced, and therefore the block type electromagnetic brake of the elevator is stable in performance, low in noise, and reliable in braking, and facilitates use life extension of a traction machine.
