Surgical bandage and methods for treating open wounds

A surgical bandage for treating a wound that allows various fluids or fluid-like substances including cyanoacrylate adhesives to be applied. The surgical bandage has a wound treatment portion for being placed over a wound and a place for a flowable cyanoacrylate adhesive or any other fluid or fluid-like substance to be applied to the underlying wound (laceration, surgical incision or other tissue separation). A source is used to apply the cyanoacrylate or other fluid to the wound treatment portion flowing through at least one opening of the wound treatment portion to the underlying wound and its surrounding area either by direct application or from a non-contact distance. The surgical bandage allows for direct visualization before, during and after its application. The surgical bandage allows for removal of blood or any fluid that may be present in, on or around the wound by blotting or wiping.

Method for preparing porous tantalum medical implant material through three-dimensional printing forming

The invention discloses a method for preparing a porous tantalum medical implant material. The method comprises the following steps of: feeding mixed tantalum power formed by mixing pure tantalum powder and a forming agent into a printing platform of a three-dimensional printer, and rolling and paving; spraying an adhesion agent by a printing head of the three-dimensional printer to adhere the mixed tantalum powder so as to form a two-dimensional plane; descending a working table 80 to 100 mu m, and processing the next layer; accumulating and forming layer by layer; removing the tantalum powder particles which are not adhered to obtain an initially formed sample; and performing aftertreatment such as degreasing, vacuum sintering, cooling and the like to obtain the porous tantalum medical implant material, wherein the volume ratio of the pure tantalum powder to the forming agent is (60-80):(20-40), and the adhesion agent is 1 mass percent alpha-cyanoacrylate adhesive. The pores of the porous tantalum medical implant material prepared by the method are completely communicated in a three-dimensional mode; the porous tantalum medical implant material prepared by the method is high in biocompatibility; and meanwhile, the mechanical property of the porous tantalum medical implant material prepared by the method is consistent with that of loading bone tissues of a human body.

Method for curing cyanoacrylate adhesives

A new adhesive method using an adhesive composition including cyanoacrylate adhesive and a stabilizing agent to join together portions of a substrate, particularly useful in suturing and similar medical procedures, is disclosed. It is based on the discovery that remarkable improvements are obtained by adding a step of removing stabilizing agent from such adhesive compositions coincidently with the prior known steps of (a) providing an adhesive composition including cyanoacrylate adhesive and a stabilizing agent, (b) presenting a substrate to receive at least a portion of such cyanoacrylate adhesive and (c) applying such portion to the substrate. Devices for use in performing the method are disclosed.

Toughened alpha-cyanoacrylate adhesive and preparation method thereof

The invention discloses a toughened alpha-cyanoacrylate adhesive and a preparation method thereof. The adhesive comprises the following components: alpha-cyanoacrylate, a polyurethane prepolymer which is 20 to 60 percent based on the mass of the alpha-cyanoacrylate, an anionic polymerization inhibitor which is 50 to 250ppm based on the mass of the alpha-cyanoacrylate, a radical polymerization inhibitor which is 100 to 2,000 ppm based on the mass of the alpha-cyanoacrylate, a thickener, a heat resistant agent, a reinforce, a pigment, a spice and the like. The method for preparing the adhesive comprises: adding the polyurethane prepolymer which is 20 to 60 percent based on the mass of the alpha-cyanoacrylate and the alpha-cyanoacrylate into a three-necked flask, mixing and stirring the polyurethane prepolymer and the alpha-cyanoacrylate for 1 hour at 50 to 60 DEG C and obtaining an alpha-cyanoacrylate and polyurethane prepolymer complex; and filling the alpha-cyanoacrylate and polyurethane prepolymer complex, the radical polymerization inhibitor and the anionic polymerization inhibitor into the three-necked flask, and mixing and stirring the materials in the three-necked flask till the mixture is uniform. The anionic polymerization inhibitor is 50 to 250ppm based on the mass of the alpha-cyanoacrylate and the radical polymerization inhibitor is 100 to 2,000 ppm based on the mass of the alpha-cyanoacrylate.

The invention discloses a cyanacrylate composition. The cyanacrylate composition comprises: (1) 50-98% of cyanacrylate monomer; (2) 0.001-10% of anionic polymerization inhibitor; (3) 0.01-5% of radical polymerization inhibitor; (4) 1-30% of thickener; and (5) 0.1-10% of promoter. The acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylic ester copolymer (ASA) is used as a thickener and flexibilizer for the cyanacrylate adhesive disclosed by the invention; the copolymer can be used for effectively improving the heat resistance and the humidity resistance of the adhesive; as the adhesive does not contain the group capable of inhibiting the curing of the adhesive solution, the curing speed of the adhesive is not influenced; and in addition, as the ASA has excellent aging resistance, the aging resistance of the adhesive is also improved to some extent.

Stabilized cyanoacrylate adhesives

The problem addressed by the invention was to find an anionic polymerization inhibitor for cyanoacrylate adhesives containing one or more cyanoacrylates, stabilizers against anionic and radical polymerization and auxiliaries typically used in such adhesive systems which, besides a reliable inhibiting effect, would counteract any increase in the setting time after storage. This problem was solved by using 2-oxo-1,3,2-dioxathiolanes as inhibitors.

Cyanoacrylate Adhesive Compositions and Devices and Process for Sterilization Thereof

The viscosity of 2-cyanoacrylate monomer based adhesives is increased by combining the monomers with suitable thickeners according to a certain process. The resulting formulations may be heat sterilized without degrading the viscosity or causing premature polymerization. The effectiveness of the sterilization process is assayed by disposing bacterial spores in the formulation, exposing it to a dry heat sterilization process, transferring it to a sterile aldose solution, transferring and exposing the sample to a nutrient medium which supports germination and growth of viable spores, incubating the samples, and determining the presence or absence of growth.
