Acrylic-based pressure sensitive adhesives are modified with a telechelic hydrocarbon oligomer. The oligomer comprises a hydrocarbon polymer chain or backbone and a functional end group, e.g., an oligomer prepared from a mono hydroxyl polybutadiene polymer and toluene diisocyanate. The oligomer attaches to the acrylic backbone of the polymer as a pendant group and in a preferred embodiment, the oligomer is mixed with the PSA shortly before the PSA is coated.

A polymerizable composition includes at least one monomer, a photoinitiator capable of initiating polymerization of the monomer when exposed to light, and a phosphor capable of producing light when exposed to radiation (typically X-rays). The material is particularly suitable for bonding components at ambient temperature in situations where the bond joint is not accessible to an external light source. An associated method includes: placing a polymerizable adhesive composition, including a photoinitiator and energy converting material, such as a down-converting phosphor, in contact with at least two components to be bonded to form an assembly; and, irradiating the assembly with radiation at a first wavelength, capable of conversion (down-conversion by the phosphor) to a second wavelength capable of activating the photoinitiator, to prepare items such as inkjet cartridges, wafer-to-wafer assemblies, semiconductors, integrated circuits, and the like.

A flame retardant, intumescent pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) composition for EMI shielding gaskets, tapes, wraps, and the like. Acrylic emulsion as well as preparation method and application thereof

The invention discloses an acrylic emulsion as well as a preparation method and an application thereof. The preparation method of the acrylic emulsion comprises the following steps: (1) mixing all monomers, 1 / 4-1 / 3 of deionized water and 2 / 3-3 / 4 of anionic emulsifier in raw materials, and emulsifying the mixture for 10-30 minutes to obtain a pre-emulsion; adding the left deionized water, the leftanionic emulsifier and 1 / 20-1 / 5 of pre-emulsion to a reactor, heating the reactor to 75-85 DEG C, adding an initiator, and making the mixture react for 0.5-1 hour; and (2) dropwise adding the left pre-emulsion for 2-4 hours, preserving heat for 2 hours at 75-85 DEG C, decreasing the temperature to 60 DEG C, adding a non-ionic emulsifier, stirring for 20 minutes, cooling the mixture to 20-30 DEG C, adjusting the pH value of the mixture to 7-8, adding a cross-linking agent, stirring and discharging. The acrylic emulsion has good rebound elasticity and good batch stability, can well disperse inorganic powder and overcomes a series of defects of the existing acrylic emulsion, and the preparation process of the acrylic emulsion is simple and is easy to realize industrial production.

Non-tacky, base polymers are plasticized into pressure-sensitive adhesives and comprise: a) about 100 parts by weight of a base copolymer having a Tg greater than about 0° C., wherein the base copolymer is formed from and comprises: (1) about 50 to 70% by weight of a high Tg comonomer component, wherein the homopolymer formed from the high Tg comonomer component has a Tg of at least about 20° C.; (2) optionally, up to about 20% by weight based on the total weight of the base copolymer of an acidic comonomer; and (3) about 30 to 50% by weight of one or more low Tg (meth)acrylate comonomer, wherein the Tg homopolymer of the low Tg comonomer is less than about 20° C., and b) about 1 to about 100 parts based on the base copolymer of a nonreactive, non-volatile, non-acrylic-based plasticizing agent.

A wet-skin adhesive includes a pressure-sensitive adhesive component that includes at least one monoethylenically unsaturated (meth)acrylic acid ester comprising an alkyl group having at least 4 carbons on average and at least one monoethylenically unsaturated reinforcing monomer; and a film-forming component that includes at least one monoethylenically unsaturated (meth)acrylic acid ester comprising an alkyl group having less than 4 carbons on average and at least one hydrophilic acidic monomer, wherein the wet-stick pressure-sensitive adhesive has an initial wet skin adhesion of at least about 0.8 N / dm. Advantageously, the wet-stick adhesive has an initial wet skin adhesion that is at least about 65% of an initial dry skin adhesion.

The present invention provides a variety of extended polyacrylic acid based binder compositions comprising a low molecular weight polyacrylic acid (typically hypophosphite or sulfite terminated), a crosslinking agent (such as triethanolamine or glycerol) and one or more water soluble materials, such as lignin, low molecular weight starch and soybean protein. The extended binder composition of the present invention provides a lower cost binder composition without degrading the performance and may be selected to alter one or more characteristics of the basic binder composition such binder wetting, emulsion compatibility, dust suppression and wash water flow properties.

Method for Preparing Adhesive Acrylic Ester Polymer Syrup

The present invention relates to a method for preparing an acrylic ester polymer syrup by bulk polymerization, and more particularly, to a method for preparing an acrylic ester polymer syrup, which comprises the steps of: supplying a monomer solution and an initiator solution to a monomer solution reservoir and an initiator solution reservoir, respectively; supplying the monomer solution and the initiator solution to a complete-mixing type continuous reactor, while maintaining the dissolved oxygen in the monomer solution reservoir and the initiator solution reservoir at 0.0001 to 3 ppm, separately or after mixing prior to the supply; and performing bulk polymerization continuously while maintaining the solution mixture supplied to the continuous reactor at 70 to 150 ° C. and 1 to 10 atm, with a mean residence time of 30 to 240 minutes. In accordance with the present invention, an acrylic ester polymer syrup can be obtained with a degree of polymerization of 20 to 70% at a low polymerization temperature, even with a small amount of initiator. Productivity can be improved by reducing reaction time with the use of an initiator having a short half-life and polymerization can be performed very stably and continuously without gelation.

The invention relates to a method for preparing an environment-friendly silicone-modified acrylate adhesive. Raw materials of the preparation method comprise a basic monomer, a modified monomer and an auxiliary agent, wherein the basic monomer comprises a hard monomer, a soft monomer and a crosslinking monomer; the modified monomer comprises a silane monomer, a coupling agent and inorganic nano-powder; the crosslinking monomer is glycidyl acrylate or glycidyl methacrylate; and the grain diameter of the inorganic nano-powder is less than 80 nanometers. In the preparation method, the crosslinking monomer adopts the glycidyl acrylate or the glycidyl methacrylate so as to be environment-friendly. The product prepared by the method is a nanometer / silicone double-modified molecular composite polymer material. The molecular composite material is combined with the advantages of two polymer materials, namely silicone and polyacrylic ester and an inorganic nanometer material, and has better performance and broad application.
