Electric double layer capacitor

An aqueous electric double layer capacitor having excellent wettability with aqueous electrolytic solution, low internal resistance, excellent easiness of forming uniform, thin and wide films and mechanical strength. Activated carbon powder, a polymeric binder having a hydrophilic group and a plasticizer are fully mixed to form a film which is then dried to form an electrode. By using a polymer having a hydrophilic group as a binder, wettability between an aqueous electrolytic solution and the electrode is improved and contact resistance between an electrolysis solution and the electrode can be reduced. In addition, by adding a plasticizer, the amount of polymer binder required to form a thin type electrode can be reduced, thus providing an aqueous solution electric double layer capacitor with low internal resistance.

Mobile terminal device and input device

A mobile terminal device includes a display section having a display screen, an input section having a touch input region on the display screen, and a control section for displaying a plurality of keys. The display screen is provided as a software keyboard where a touch operation on a specific key causes an input of the specific key. In the specific display region on the display screen that can display operation keys on the software keyboard, the control section selects these keys from a previously prepared set of input candidate key groups. In response to a specific operation on the specific display region, the control section allows the plurality of keys to be displayed on the specific display region. In response to touch on a desired key in the specific display region, the control section determines that an input of the key has been performed.

A torso support portion and a pair of thigh support portions are each formed of an outer layer of hard relatively stiff molded plastic material of limited flexibility and an inner layer of relatively soft cushioning material for distributing the weight of a patient over a large area. The torso support portion may comprise a rear panel adjustable secured between two body panels. Tightening straps serve to tighten the torso support portion about a patient with the parts of the torso support portion adjacent the front opposite free sides of the two body panels overlapping one another in operative position. A pair of tightening straps serve to tighten each of the thigh support portions about the thighs of a patient with the free sides of each thigh support portion spaced a substantial distance from one another in operative position. Four adjustable suspension straps are provided for suspending the torso support portion and provide a quick-release feature. Two adjustable groin straps are provided for stabilizing the torso support portion. Each of the thigh support portions is connected to the torso support portion in depending relationship therefrom by adjustable connecting straps. One of the thigh support portions is provided with a channel extending from the top edge to the bottom edge thereof portion for receiving a catheter. The thigh support portions are provided with outwardly facing fastening portions for fastening the thigh support portions to a powered gait orthosis device.

Locating system and method for determining positions of objects

A locating system for determining a position of an object comprises a transmitting station that transmits a first ID signal containing a first identifier of this transmitting station; a receiving station that receives the first ID signal, measures the intensity of the first ID signal, and extracts the first identifier; a data management unit that stores and manages the intensity in association with the first identifier, the intensity and the identifier being supplied from the receiving station; and a positioning computer that estimates the position of the transmitting station using a first correcting formula defining a relation between the intensity and the distance, based on the data stored in the data management unit.

Material characterization with model based sensors

Nondestructive material condition monitoring and assessment is accomplished by placing, mounting, or scanning magnetic and electric field sensors and sensor arrays over material surfaces. The material condition can be inferred directly from material property estimates, such as the magnetic permeability, dielectric permittivity, electrical property, or thickness, or from a correlation with these properties. Hidden cracks in multiple layer structures in the presence of fasteners are detected by combining multiple frequency magnetic field measurements and comparing the result to characteristic signature responses. The threshold value for indicating a crack is adjusted based on a high frequency measurement that accounts for fastener type. The condition of engine disk slot is determined without removal of the disk from the engine by placing near the disk a fixture that contains a sensor for scanning through the slot and means for recording position within the slot. Inflatable support structures can be placed behind the sensor to improve and a guide can be used to align sensor with the slot and for rotating the disk. The condition of an interface between a conducting substrate and a coating is assessed by placing a magnetic field sensor on the opposite side of the substrate from the coating and monitoring at least one model parameter for the material system, with the model parameter correlated to the interfacial condition. The model parameter is typically a magnetic permeability that reflects the residual stress at the interface. Sensors embedded between material layers are protected from damage by placing shims on the faying surface. After determining the areas to be monitored and the areas likely to cause sensor damage, a shim thickness is determined and is then placed in at least one area not being monitored by a sensor. The condition of a test fluid is assessed through a dielectric sensor containing a contaminant-sensitive material layer. The properties of the layer are monitored with the dielectric sensor and correlated to contaminant level.
