Visual electrode ablation systems

Visual electrode ablation systems are described herein which include a deployment catheter and an attached imaging hood deployable into an expanded configuration. In use, the imaging hood is placed against or adjacent to a region of tissue to be imaged in a body lumen that is normally filled with an opaque bodily fluid such as blood. A translucent or transparent fluid, such as saline, can be pumped into the imaging hood until the fluid displaces any blood, thereby leaving a clear region of tissue to be imaged via an imaging element in the deployment catheter. An electric current may be passed through the fluid such that it passes directly to the tissue region being imaged and the electrical energy is conducted through the fluid without the need for a separate ablation probe or instrument to ablate the tissue being viewed.

Wide Area Networked File System

InactiveUS20070162462A1Eliminate overheadAlleviates the bottleneck at the central serverSpecial data processing applicationsMemory systemsWide areaRandomized algorithm
Traditional networked file systems like NFS do not extend to wide-area due to network latency and dynamics introduced in the WAN environment. To address that problem, a wide-area networked file system is based on a traditional networked file system (NFS / CIFS) and extends to the WAN environment by introducing a file redirector infrastructure residing between the central file server and clients. The file redirector infrastructure is invisible to both the central server and clients so that the change to NFS is minimal. That minimizes the interruption to the existing file service when deploying WireFS on top of NFS. The system includes an architecture for an enterprise-wide read / write wide area network file system, protocols and data structures for metadata and data management in this system, algorithms for history based prefetching for access latency minimization in metadata operations, and a distributed randomized algorithm for the implementation of global LRU cache replacement scheme.

Electric double layer capacitor

An aqueous electric double layer capacitor having excellent wettability with aqueous electrolytic solution, low internal resistance, excellent easiness of forming uniform, thin and wide films and mechanical strength. Activated carbon powder, a polymeric binder having a hydrophilic group and a plasticizer are fully mixed to form a film which is then dried to form an electrode. By using a polymer having a hydrophilic group as a binder, wettability between an aqueous electrolytic solution and the electrode is improved and contact resistance between an electrolysis solution and the electrode can be reduced. In addition, by adding a plasticizer, the amount of polymer binder required to form a thin type electrode can be reduced, thus providing an aqueous solution electric double layer capacitor with low internal resistance.

Image analysis, editing and search techniques

Disclosed is a method for characterizing the content of a digital image. A component of the method is the homogeneity measure, which calculates a value or values based on the local similarity of portions of a sample area. A further component is a means of optimally adjusting the shape and offset of the local sample area to improve the resulting measure. The homogeneity measure may be applied at a higher level to segment an image, by grouping together larger portions of an image whose sub-components are locally similar. A strongly homogeneous region is a contiguous region composed of elements exhibiting local homogeneity better than that of surrounding elements, and may be applied to identify the scale and other characteristics of a portion of an image. This may be used to facilitate algorithms that separate lighting and texturing information, and in identifying the composition of an image.

Antenna element and a method for manufacturing the same

A radiating antenna element intended for small-sized radio devices and a method for manufacturing the same. The element (300) is manufactured of a plate comprising a dielectric substrate coated with conductive material on one side. The radiating conductor branches corresponding to the operating bands of the antenna are formed on the plate by removing the conductive coating by laser narrowly from the border line of the area (330) between the designed conductor branches. The conductor area confined by the created border groove can be used as a parasitic additional radiator. If needed, the conductor area confined by the border groove (331) can also be split into a number of small conductor areas (CA1, CA2), in order to make sure that the conductor area does not radiate or have any substantial effect on the coupling between the radiating conductor branches. A relatively wide area “invisible” on the operating frequencies of the radiating branches of the antenna can be formed between the branches by the customary laser technique. This means lower manufacturing costs compared to the use of the etching process, and the creation of problem waste is also avoided.

Material characterization with model based sensors

InactiveUS20070069720A1Improve crack detection reliabilityImprove reliabilityMaterial magnetic variablesSensor arrayElectric field sensor
Nondestructive material condition monitoring and assessment is accomplished by placing, mounting, or scanning magnetic and electric field sensors and sensor arrays over material surfaces. The material condition can be inferred directly from material property estimates, such as the magnetic permeability, dielectric permittivity, electrical property, or thickness, or from a correlation with these properties. Hidden cracks in multiple layer structures in the presence of fasteners are detected by combining multiple frequency magnetic field measurements and comparing the result to characteristic signature responses. The threshold value for indicating a crack is adjusted based on a high frequency measurement that accounts for fastener type. The condition of engine disk slot is determined without removal of the disk from the engine by placing near the disk a fixture that contains a sensor for scanning through the slot and means for recording position within the slot. Inflatable support structures can be placed behind the sensor to improve and a guide can be used to align sensor with the slot and for rotating the disk. The condition of an interface between a conducting substrate and a coating is assessed by placing a magnetic field sensor on the opposite side of the substrate from the coating and monitoring at least one model parameter for the material system, with the model parameter correlated to the interfacial condition. The model parameter is typically a magnetic permeability that reflects the residual stress at the interface. Sensors embedded between material layers are protected from damage by placing shims on the faying surface. After determining the areas to be monitored and the areas likely to cause sensor damage, a shim thickness is determined and is then placed in at least one area not being monitored by a sensor. The condition of a test fluid is assessed through a dielectric sensor containing a contaminant-sensitive material layer. The properties of the layer are monitored with the dielectric sensor and correlated to contaminant level.

System and method for analyzing video from non-static camera

A novel system and method of treating the output of moving cameras, in particular ones that enable the application of conventional “static camera” algorithms, e.g., to enable the continuous vigilance of computer surveillance technology to be applied to moving cameras that cover a wide area. According to the invention, a single camera is deployed to cover an area that might require many static cameras and a corresponding number of processing units. A novel system for processing the main video sufficiently enables long-term change detection, particularly the observation that a static object has been moved or has appeared, for instance detecting the parking and departure of vehicles in a parking lot, the arrival of trains in stations, delivery of goods, arrival and dispersal of people, or any other application.

False eyelashes

A false eyelash that is easily wearable and prevented from slippage and separation while in use includes an extremely thin base, bonding layer formed linearly on a surface of the base, a plurality of hair segments individually and separately adhered to the bonding layer, and an adhesive layer formed on an entire underside of the base. The base is formed into substantially a two-dimensional configuration or three-dimensional configuration that contours a curved shape of an eyelid to which the base is fitted. Since the base is formed into an extremely thin two-dimensional configuration or a three-dimensional configuration that contours a curved shape of the eyelid, it may be fitted tightly to the eyelid. The hair segments are firmly adhered to the bonding layer such that they remain linearly attached to the base, by which the false eyelash with the well-aligned hair segments can easily be fitted to the eyelid.
