The invention discloses a method for examining the cycle performance of a lithium ion battery. The method includes the following steps: 1. placing plural types of lithium ion batteries which require examination to a preset cycle condition, then separately conducting charging and discharging cycle test operations with preset different cycle times; 2. after subjecting any type of lithium ion batteries to the charging and discharging cycle test operations with different cycle times, real-time implementing preset examination operations on any type of the lithium ion batteries, and recording the result of the examination; 3. based on the result of the examination of the plural types of lithium ion batteries, determining the lithium ion battery which has the best examination result as the lithium ion battery that has the best cycle performances, thus completing the examination of the cycle performances of the plural types of the lithium ion batteries. According to the invention, the method can examine the lithium ion batteries and the cycle performances of the materials inside the batteries, screens the lithium ion battery with the best cycle performances, noticeably increases the efficiency of examination, reduces the cost of examination, and promote mass manufacturing and application of the lithium ion batteries.
