Method and apparatus for rating a compliance level of a computer connecting to a network

Rules are used to determine a compliance level for a computing device attempting to access a network. The compliance level may have multiple categories or facets, that may be determined individually or collectively, to determine a score for the computing device. The score may be used to determine whether the computing device should obtain access to the network, the type of access to be granted, or whether remediation should occur and what type of remediation should occur on the computing device to enable the computing device to enjoy greater network privileges. Optionally, the score may be weighted in connection with the user privileges associated with the user as determined during the authentication process, to enable users with greater network access privileges to access the network in situations where other users may not be able to access the network.

Vertical speed and flight path command algorithm for displacement collective utilizing tactile cueing and tactile feedback

A flight control system includes a collective position command algorithm for a lift axis (collective pitch) which, in combination with an active collective system, provides a force feedback such that a pilot may seamlessly command vertical speed, flight path angle or directly change collective blade pitch. The collective position command algorithm utilizes displacement of the collective controller to command direct collective blade pitch change, while a constant force application to the collective controller within a “level flightdetent commands vertical velocity or flight path angle. The “level flightdetent provides a tactile cue for collective position to reference the aircraft level flight attitude without the pilot having to refer to the instruments and without excessive collective controller movement.

Refrigerant cycle device with ejector

A refrigerant cycle device having an ejector includes a first evaporator for evaporating refrigerant flowing out of the ejector, a first passage portion for guiding refrigerant to a refrigerant suction port of the ejector, a throttle unit located in the first passage portion, a second evaporator located in the first passage portion downstream of the throttle unit, a bypass passage portion for guiding hot gas refrigerant from a compressor into the second evaporator, a bypass opening and closing unit provided in the bypass passage portion. Furthermore, a second passage portion is branched from the bypass passage portion downstream of the bypass opening and closing unit, and a flow control unit is provided in the second passage portion to prevent a flow of refrigerant from the first evaporator to the second evaporator through the second passage portion. Therefore, defrosting of both the first and second evaporators can be suitably performed.

Active coherence reduction for interferometer interrogation

Methods and apparatus for reducing the coherence of an optical signal that is used to interrogate optical interferometric sensors are disclosed. The optical field phasor of the interrogation source is modulated in a controlled manner to produce a broadened optical source power spectrum at the output of the source unit. The output from the source unit is launched into an optical sensor network, comprising a multiple of optical pathways from its input to the detection unit, where pairs of optical pathways form sensor interferometers. A compensating interferometer with delay difference similar to the sensor delay difference may be arranged in a serially coupled manner with the optical sensor network, either before or after the network. The optical output power from the source unit may either be continuous or pulsed with a pulse duration similar to the sensor delay. The coherence modulation may be performed through direct modulation of the source or through external modulation of the light with piezoelectric ring modulator, a Lithium niobate phase or intensity modulator, or an acoustooptic modulator.
