Method and apparatus for providing ventilatory support to a patient

A ventilatory support system which controls the flow of breathing gas to a patient based on the physiological requirements of the patient is disclosed. Gas pressure in the trachea of the patient is measured, and the delivery of breathing gas to the patient is controlled based on the sensed gas pressure. Depending on the physiological needs of the patient, a tracheal gas pressure limit and a breathing gas flow rate value are established. When the tracheal gas pressure limit is reached, the flow of breathing gas is reduced or terminated. The flow of breathing gas is resumed, for example, after a delay period, or after the tracheal gas pressure falls to a predetermined level.

Pulse oximeter

In a pulse oximeter for obtaining an oxygen saturation in a blood, a light emitter irradiates a living tissue with light beams having five different wavelengths. A light receiver receives respective light beams reflected from or transmitted through the living tissue, and converts the received light beams to electric signals. A first calculator calculates five attenuation changes of the living tissue based on fluctuations of the respective electric signals. A second calculator calculates at least four attenuation change ratios from the five attenuation changes. Each of the attenuation change ratios is defined by a ratio between any two of the five attenuation changes. A third calculator calculates the oxygen saturation based on the attenuation change ratios, while taking an oxygen saturation of arterial blood, an oxygen saturation of venous blood, a ratio between changes in arterial blood and venous blood, and a tissue term as four unknown values.

Method for tissue-culture breeding and wild-simulated cultivation of dendrobium candidum

The invention discloses a method for tissue-culture breeding and wild-simulated cultivation of dendrobium candidum, which comprises: inoculating dendrobium candidum tender straw slices onto a culturemedium for culture under conditions of a temperature of 22 to 24 DEG C and an illuminance of 1,000 to 1,500 Lx to first induce the growth of calles to form protocorms and then promote the multiplicative growth of the protocorms into 5 to 8 centimeter strong seedlings; and moving the seedlings out of a culture room, hardening the seedlings at a normal temperature for 3 to 5 days and transplanting the seedlings into the ground in a green house. The plane basic layer of a cultivation check field in the green house are provided with spaced breather holes; the upper layer of the cultivation check field is a cultivation medium; the seedlings are planted at a row spacing of 12*8cm and a spacing in the row of 12*8cm; in the green house, the temperature is 0 to 28 DEG C, the humidity is 60 to 70 percent and the shade density is 70 to 80 percent; and disease and pest prevention and control are carried out periodically and the dendrobium candidum can be harvested in 3 to 4 years. The method improves the civil year breeding coefficient of the dendrobium candidum by about 10 times, provides enough seedlings for large-scale cultivation, solves the problem of wild-simulated cultivation and realizes scale cultivation.

Internal nasal dilator filter

A device combining internal nasal filtration and internal nasal dilation operating synchronously provides air filtration by retaining particulate in a single piece foam nasal filter during inhalation through the nose. Internal nasal dilation is provided by the effect of a resilient member adhesively affixed to the nasal foam filter and which when bent from a planar surface applies outward biasing forces to each nostril so that breathing is facilitated. The soft, gentle foam of the nasal filter distributes the biasing forces over a large area and protects the inside of the nose from irritation. An improved internal nasal dilator filter functions to provide increased air flow through dilation while removing various sizes of particulate through filtration.

Intubation positioning, breathing facilitator and non-invasive assist ventilation device

This invention can be used in three different ways for patients who are lying down in bed or on the operating table. First it facilitates the endotracheal intubation, secondly it facilitates the spontaneous breathing of obese patients and thirdly it assists the spontaneous inspiration and expiration in a non-invasive way. This invention device is positioned under the patient before he is asleep without disturbing him. It allows a gradual elevation of the lower and or upper thorax, a gradual elevation of the head giving a flexion of the neck and a gradual hyperextension of the head. After intubation the position is returned to normal without need for removing the invention device. This invention elevates the spinal column and therefore the thorax is no more compressed and the ribs can move free. Inspiration requires less force and the patient can be breathing easier even when lying down. In this invention the spinal column elevation can also be inflated in a synchronized way with the respiration of the patient. During inspiration the spinal column is elevated, facilitating the inspiration. During expiration the elevation is lowered, facilitating the expiration. The work of breathing is reduced for the patient resulting in larger minute volume ventilation or less oxygen consumption.

Method and apparatus for treatment of snoring and sleep apnea

An elongated anti-snoring device has adhesive areas at each end of the device and a central region of the anti-snoring device is designed to exert pressure. In use, the adhesive areas exert a pulling force on two areas of the neck causing these areas of the neck to expand outward from their normal position. The central portion of the anti-snoring device presses on a specific part of the neck to generate the pulling force. The forces on the neck open a blockage in the throat of a sleeping person, thereby reducing both snoring and sleep apnea.
