High-performance extensible document transformation

The present invention provides a method, system, and computer program product for applying transformations to extensible documents, enabling reductions in the processing time required to transform arbitrarily-structured documents having particular well-defined elements. Signatures for structured document types are defined, along with one or more transformations to be performed upon documents of that type. The transformations are specified using syntax elements referred to as maps. A map specifies an operation code for the transformation to be performed, and describes the input and output of the associated transformation. A special map processing engine locates an appropriate transformation object to a particular input document at run-time, and applies the transformation operation according to the map definition. This technique is preferably used for a set of predetermined core transformations, with other transformations being processed using stylesheet engines of the prior art. The input documents may be encoded in the Extensible Markup Language (XML), or in other structured notations. The techniques of the present invention are particularly well suited to use in high-volume and throughput-sensitive environments such as that encountered by business-to-business transaction servers.

Wideband analog quadrature modulator/demodulator with pre-compensation/post-compensation correction

The present invention is related to methods and apparatus that compensate for quadrature impairments of an analog quadrature modulator and / or demodulator over a relatively wide signal bandwidth. One embodiment pre-distorts baseband signals in a quadrature modulator compensation signal processor (QMCSP) to negate the quadrature impairment of an analog quadrature modulator and corrects a received baseband signal in a quadrature demodulator compensation signal processor (QDCSP) to cancel the quadrature impairment of an analog quadrature demodulator. The QMCSP and the QDCSP contain adaptive digital filter correction structures that pre-compensate and post-compensate, respectively, for the quadrature impairments introduced by the analog quadrature modulator and the analog quadrature demodulator over a relatively wide bandwidth. A phase shifter advantageously shifts the phase of a local oscillator signal to the analog quadrature demodulator to distinguish quadrature impairments introduced by the modulation path from quadrature impairments introduced by the demodulation path.

Method for forming an electrostatically-doped carbon nanotube device

The present invention provides a method and associated structure for forming an electrostatically-doped carbon nanotube device. The method includes providing a carbon nanotube having a first end and a second end. The method also includes disposing a first metal contact directly adjacent to the first end of the carbon nanotube, wherein the first metal contact is electrically coupled to the first end of the carbon nanotube, and disposing a second metal contact directly adjacent to the second end of the carbon nanotube, wherein the second metal contact is electrically coupled to the second end of the carbon nanotube. The method further includes disposing a first metal electrode adjacent to and at a distance from the first end of the carbon nanotube, wherein the first metal electrode is capacitively coupled to the first end of the carbon nanotube, and disposing a second metal electrode adjacent to and at a distance from the second end of the carbon nanotube, wherein the second metal electrode is capacitively coupled to the second end of the carbon nanotube. The method still further includes selectively applying a first bias to the first metal electrode to electrostatically dope the first end of the carbon nanotube and selectively applying a second bias to the second metal electrode to electrostatically dope the second end of the carbon nanotube.

Multi-layer dry paint decorative laminate having discoloration prevention barrier

InactiveUS20050196607A1Slow and stop discolorationSlowCovering/liningsFilm/foil adhesive primer layersPressure sensitiveEmulsion
A decorative dry paint wall film includes a layer of dry paint, a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer on one side of the dry paint layer, and a release liner in releasable contact with the dry paint layer on a side opposite from the pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA). The release liner has a matte release coat layer that contacts the dry paint layer. The release liner is released from the dry paint layer after the PSA side is attached to a wall. The matte release coat transfers a matte finish to the dry paint layer when the release liner is removed. The wall film includes a barrier layer to protect against significant discoloration of the color in the dry paint layer caused by migration of azo-type pigments from a painted wall surface. The barrier layer in one embodiment comprises a dry emulsion containing ethylene-vinyl alcohol and a dispersed polymeric material which in one embodiment comprises a urethane material.
