This invention is a method and supporting apparatus for autonomously capturing, servicing and de-orbiting a free-flying spacecraft, such as a satellite, using robotics. The capture of the spacecraft includes the steps of optically seeking and ranging the satellite using LIDAR; and matching tumble rates, rendezvousing and berthing with the satellite. Servicing of the spacecraft may be done using supervised autonomy, which is allowing a robot to execute a sequence of instructions without intervention from a remote human-occupied location. These instructions may be packaged at the remote station in a script and uplinked to the robot for execution upon remote command giving authority to proceed. Alternately, the instructions may be generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI) logic onboard the robot. In either case, the remote operator maintains the ability to abort an instruction or script at any time, as well as the ability to intervene using manual override to teleoperate the robot. In one embodiment, a vehicle used for carrying out the method of this invention comprises an ejection module, which includes the robot, and a de-orbit module. Once servicing is completed by the robot, the ejection module separates from the de-orbit module, leaving the de-orbit module attached to the satellite for de-orbiting the same at a future time. Upon separation, the ejection module can either de-orbit itself or rendezvous with another satellite for servicing. The ability to de-orbit a spacecraft further allows the opportunity to direct the landing of the spent satellite in a safe location away from population centers, such as the ocean.

A warning signal is transmitted when the aircraft risks colliding with the terrain at the end of a second predetermined period of time, which is shorter than the first predetermined period of time. A piloting system causes the aircraft to automatically climb with a first gradient corresponding to a predetermined value upon the transmission of the caution signal. An automatic pilot is engaged automatically, if currently disengaged, to force the aircraft to climb with a second gradient, corresponding to the maximum gradient possible in the current flight conditions of the aircraft, upon the transmission of the warning signal.

Carbon black master batch for herbicide-containing plastic mulching films and preparation method thereof

The invention belongs to the field of herbicide-containing plastic mulching films, and particularly relates to a carbon black master batch for herbicide-containing plastic mulching films, which is used in multifunctional agricultural mulching films for weeding, soil moisture preservation and thermal insulation. The invention is characterized in that the carbon black master batch is composed of 40-60 parts by weight of granulating carbon black and 40-60 parts by weight of resin. The melt mass flow rate of the resin is 2-50g / 10min, and the resin is used for solving the problem of high dispersity under the condition of high concentration of carbon black. The carbon black is the granulating carbon black of which the micromolecule volatilization amount is at most 0.5% within the temperature and time ranges of the film blowing technique; and the carbon black is selected to control the micromolecule volatilization amount, thereby solving the problems of bubbles, spots pinholes in the blown film product. The concentration of the carbon black in the master batch is up to 40-60%, thereby ensuring the blackness of the herbicide-containing plastic mulching films. The light transmittance is at most 1%, and the haze is at least 25%; and the carbon black master batch has high optical resistance, and completely intercepts sunlight required by photosynthesis of weed growth, thereby achieving the effect of 95% above weeding effect and reducing the environmental pollution.

Method and apparatus for cake-forming granular-bed filtration

There is provided a granular-bed filter for cleaning a gas containing fine particulate matter (“dust”). A multiplicity of vertically disposed filter trays are assembled to form a “panel.” In each filter tray, an inclined porous plate supports a bed of granular material. Each bed presents an inclined gas-entry face that receives gas from a vertically-disposed dusty-gas-distribution compartment nearby the face's lower edge. A filter cake forms upon the gas-entry face. Preferably, the bed's depth is substantially the same at its upper and lower edges. Cleaned gas leaves a tray across the porous plate and flows into a vertically-disposed cleaned-gas-collection compartment. After an interval of filtration, gas-entry faces are renewed by producing en masse displacement of the material respecting the supporting plates, the displacement producing a spill of a surface layer from each gas-entry face. The displacement is preferably accomplished by causing the support plates to move sharply upward (e.g., as may be caused by an upward blow of a hammer). The displacement may also be caused by subjecting the panel to a reverse transient surge flow of gas (i.e., a “puff-back”). After face renewal, granular material descends by gravity from an elevated source to make good loss of the material from the faces.

By adopting a hydraulic oil cylinder swing arm driving system, the trafficability and the obstacle climbing ability of the underwater unmanned remote-control heavy-load work vehicle under complex environments are greatly improved, and the adaptability of the underwater unmanned remote-control heavy-load work vehicle in the seabed underwater complex environments is greatly enhanced.

Dynamic tow maneuver orbital launch technique

An orbital launch system and its method of operation use a maneuver to improve the launch condition of a booster rocket and payload. A towed launch aircraft, to which the booster rocket is mounted, is towed to a predetermined elevation and airspeed. The towed launch aircraft begins the maneuver by increasing its lift, thereby increasing the flight path angle, which increases the tension on the towline connecting the towed launch aircraft to a towing aircraft. The increased tension accelerates the towed launch aircraft and booster rocket, while decreasing the speed (and thus the kinetic energy) of the towing aircraft, while increasing kinetic energy of the towed launch aircraft and booster rocket by transferring energy from the towing aircraft. The potential energy of the towed launch aircraft and booster rocket is also increased, due to the increased lift. The booster rocket is released and ignited, completing the launch.
