Valve actuator and method

A subsea actuator and method is disclosed that includes all moving components mounted in a compact, concentric configuration. The subsea actuator is highly reliable and will operate at depth even with zero valve body cavity pressure. A preferably cup-shaped spring pusher is provided in telescoping relationship to the hydraulic chamber. A piston position indicator is provided which is connected externally to the hydraulic piston cylinder to avoid the possibility of hydraulic leaks due to the piston indicator. A manual override may be provided with a manual override indicator. The manual override indicator has a shorter travel length than the manual override operating stem to thereby reduce the overall length of the manual override assembly. The driving stem provides a removable connection to the hydraulic piston from the top of the actuator housing and a quick disconnect permits disconnection of the driving stem from the valve stem. In a preferred embodiment, upper and lower t-slot connections are utilized in the driving stem assembly. In a preferred embodiment, two back seat valves are removably secured to the driving stem to engage respective seats and provide additional sealing around the driving stem so as to prevent leakage between the valve chamber and actuator housing chamber. The high tension spring does not need to be removed to perform maintenance, and all wear items and seals are readily accessible. Change or replacement of the stem packing is made from the top of the bonnet to avoid dissasembling the bonnet to valve body connection. Pre-load bolts are used to adjustably preload the tension in the return spring. The height / weight of the actuator is significantly reduced as compared to prior art subsea valve actuators.

Card Shuffler

Systems, apparatuses and methods are described for shuffling a deck, group, stack or pile of cards. The cards are placed into a shuffler. The shuffler may be accessed under a lid, or via a slot or tray. Buttons, switches, or a touch screen and the like serve as an interface to access and control the shuffler. Cards are introduced into a substantially vertical shuffling chute. Cards are counted or audited. Sensors provide information as to the location of the cards. Static barriers and agitators encourage cards to remain in proper orientation and location. An elevator lifts cards from the shuffling chute. Sweeper arms or other mechanism manipulates the cards and returns the cards to a substantially horizontal orientation and exit position. Manual override is possible when errors are detected. Rubber-coated commodity rollers mountable to cantilevered axles engage and launch cards into the air when shuffled in the shuffling chute. Cards settle back into the stack of cards under the influence of gravity. The shuffler is mounted inside a simple enclosure. Maintenance and interface features provide convenience when working with the shuffler. Authentication may be employed to correlate user or dealer with operation of the shuffler.

Instant-on vented tank valve with manual override and method of operation thereof

An instant-on valve assembly with manual override is designed to be connected to a tank containing high pressure gaseous fuel. The valve assembly and manual override allows the tank to be alternately closed off, vented or allows the gas in the tank to bypass the instant-on valve. The instant-on valve assembly can be repaired or replaced without venting the tank. The instant-on valve assembly has a main valve and a bleed valve The main valve has a secondary plunger that opens and closes a main orifice. The bleed valve has a bleed valve stem that opens and closes a bleed orifice. The main valve is slidably mounted within a housing and has a chamber at one end and a zone at another end. Both the zone and the chamber have access to high pressure gaseous fuel within the tank. High pressure gaseous fluid within the zone can be drained when the bleed valve stem is fully open. The bleed valve stem is connected to a solenoid and opens upon activation of the solenoid. When the pressure within the zone is sufficiently reduced, the pressure within the chamber will cause the main valve to open by sliding into the zone. A spring moves the main valve towards a closed position when the solenoid is deactivated. Since the volume of the zone is relatively small, the main valve opens within one second after the solenoid is activated.
