HTTP distributed remote user authentication system

The present invention relates to the field of data and computer network security. Data and computer network security is of the utmost importance to most organizations that possess such networks. One of the difficulties that users and managers of these networks face is that the users have to provide a user ID and password every time they wish to access one of the organization's secured HTTP servers or URLs. This creates a problem for users and managers since lists of numerous user IDs and passwords need to be maintained and therefore can easily be lost or their confidentiality compromised. This invention addresses these problems by providing a transparent, scalable, single point of authentication for remote users across any number of HTTP servers anywhere on a data network, such as an Intranet, using any user ID and password scheme implemented by a main authentication HTTP server.

System and method for digital bill presentment and payment

A system of bill presentment and bill payment. The parties to the process, which typically include the bill presenter, bill payer, and bank, credit card company or other intermediary, select from a number of choices in the selection of information to include in the bill, preparation of the bill, acceptable payment methods, means to send the bill and bill payment instrument, means of signing the bill, bill payment instrument, receipt acknowledging deposit and payment, method of recording and reconciling payments, and further actions. An accumulation of choices by the involved parties can include digital information in each step that represents all of the significant data accumulated up to and including that step. That digital data preferably includes digital signatures of each party at each step so as to provide an audit trail in purely digital form. Where digital data is chosen for each step, the digital data can be electronic or, using machine readable code, printed on paper, regardless of the form chosen in prior or later steps.

System and method for establishing universal real time protocol bridging

An apparatus and methods for Real Time Protocol (RTP) based bridging to create calls to and From any communication devices connected to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) or any public or private Internet Protocol network. The methods are represented in controls residing either in an RTP Bridge apparatus or as middleware on a service creation platform, softswitch, or SIP proxy services incorporating SIP bridging and SIP call relay technologies, with an interface to a TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) switch operated by a Local Exchange Carrier (LEC) or Competitive LEC (CLEC), or hosted by an Internet Telephony Service Provider (ITSP) with connectivity to the PSTN through media gateways. The method permits a party to request an on demand conference call by either dialing into the apparatus from the PSTN or from any type of RTP communication device such as an IP phone; or using a form of signaling from RTP translation device. The moderator initiates the request, enters the participant(s) to be included in the call, and the launch sequence is initiated and the apparatus makes contact with the phone / end point and uses RTP bridging to interlace the packet streams and deliver one stream back to all the devices. The advantage is an on demand conference call to one or many participants, on similar or different communications platforms.

Cross flow filtration materials and cartridges

Cross flow filtration cartridges are made using semipermeable membrane of sheet formation that was cast upon an integral polymeric fibrous support material which exhibits excellent permeate flow in the plane thereof and serves as both backing material and permeate carrier. A fibrous support having a thickness between about 0.4 mm and about 2 mm and at least one surface region with a mean pore size no greater than about 300 microns has a semipermeable membrane cast in situ thereupon from a liquid solution. After gelling to form a polymeric semipermeable membrane, the product is spirally wound about a porous tube in association with feed-passageway-providing sheet material, but in the absence of any separate permeate carrier, to form an effective cross-flow filtration cartridge wherein the feed flow may be spiral and the permeate discharge through one of the side edges.

Anastomosis systems include fittings and compression mechanisms for effecting end-end or end-side couplings of biological or synthetic bypass grafts to vessel locations. The fittings are tubular and surround end regions of the graft. In some applications an end region of the graft is everted and surrounds an exterior of the fitting, in which case the preferred compression mechanism is a retaining ring. A tool is used to evert the graft end region. In other applications, the fitting has an interior groove that receives an expandable retaining ring that urges the graft end region radially outwardly against the fitting. A graft deploying and securing system includes a needle for puncturing vessel tissue, a dilator, and a sheath adapted for containing a graft / fitting combination and guiding the combination into the vessel through an opening formed by the needle and dilator.

Method and apparatus for restricting call terminations when a mobile unit is roaming

The present invention provides a method and apparatus for restricting call terminations for a roaming mobile unit. A serving MSC, which is an MSC providing call processing a mobile unit that is not the home MSC of the mobile unit, sends a registration notification request to the home location register (HLR). The HLR retrieves the termination access code parameter from the HLR and sends it to the serving MSC. The termination access code parameter includes a value that indicates if the mobile unit is allowed to roamer port calls. The parameter is stored at a VLR associated with the serving MSC. When a call request comes in to the serving MSC and requests a roamer port call with the mobile unit, the serving MSC checks the value of the termination restriction code to determine if it should terminate, or complete, the call.
