A double cylinder system is disclosed, comprising at least one controller being adapted to transmit hydraulic control signals; at least one slave being in fluid communication with the controller and being configured to respond to the hydraulic control signals transmitted by the controller; and at least one control line providing hydraulic communication between the controller and the slave. Also disclosed is a surgical device, comprising at least one controller located at a proximal end of the device, the controller being adapted to transmit hydraulic control signals; at least one manipulator, the manipulator being configured to be controlled by a human hand and to actuate the controller; at least one slave located at a distal end of the device, the slave being in fluid communication with the controller and being configured to respond to the hydraulic control signals transmitted by the controller; and at least one control line providing hydraulic communication between the controller and the slave.

Network access control including dynamic policy enforcement point

Systems and methods of securing a computing network are described. Communication from unauthorized devices is prevented by defining one or more dynamic policy enforcement points (DPEPs) on a network segment and specifying one of these DPEPs as an active policy enforcement point (APEP). The APEP prevents communication from unauthorized devices by spoofing an ARP response. If an APEP becomes unavailable, another of the one or more DPEPs is automatically selected as a new APEP. Members of the one or more DPEPs may be non-dedicated devices configured as DPEPs by the addition of security software. The number of DPEPs and APEPs can automatically scale with the number of devices on the computing network.

Method and device for feeding components for bone cement into a mixing vessel

A method and an arrangement for successively feeding batches into a mixing vessel under partial vacuum for the preparation of bone cement. The arrangement includes an inner container communicating with the atmosphere and with the mixing vessel, which container is so arranged as to enclose a glass ampoule containing a liquid bone cement component and, on the other hand, a device for opening the ampoule so that its contents can be sucked into the mixing vessel under partial vacuum. An outer container encloses the inner container at least partially, and is arranged to communicate with the mixing vessel. The inner container, and the outer container, define a space filled with a proportional quantity of a second bone cement component, which is in powder form. The inner container is capable of displacement relative to the outer container between a first position, in which sections of the inner container prevent communication between the mixing vessel and the atmosphere, and a second position, in which communication between both the mixing vessel and the atmosphere is open, so that the powdered bone cement component can be sucked into the mixing chamber under vacuum. The feeding sequence of the bone cement components is arbitrary. In other embodiments, the inner and outer containers are eliminated, or only the inner container is retained.

Apparatus and methods for treating tooth root canals

InactiveUS20080138761A1Increase efficacyIncrease efficiency and/or efficacyWheelchairs/patient conveyanceDental toolsLight sourcePulp canal
Systems and methods provide for automated, cyclic delivery and evacuation of a treatment or irrigation solution from a tooth root pulp chamber and pulp canals. A manifold has a base member sized and configured to rest on a crown of an instrumented tooth and a top member sized and configured to couple with the base member to define an inlet chamber and an outlet chamber. The distal end of a needle is passed through an opening between the inlet and outlet chambers and extended distally beyond the base member into a pulp canal. The proximal end of the needle includes an opening in fluid communication with the inlet chamber. A solution is transferred from a fluid supply source to the inlet chamber and through the needle into the pulp chamber and pulp canals. The spent solution is evacuated from the pulp chamber and pulp canals through the outlet chamber. The system further includes additional devices, such as a light source, an electrical source, a heat source, for increasing the efficacy of the system.
