Wireless internet bio-telemetry monitoring system and interface

A system and method for monitoring patient variables in a wireless manner via a patient worn monitoring device is disclosed. The patient monitoring device is wearable and connects to a variety of sensors with at least one microphone for voice communications. The device connects to a wireless network and thence to the Internet for transmitting data to a Host for access by a medical care provider. The medical care provider communicates with the patient-wearable device via the Internet and the wireless network to send instructions to the patient-wearable monitoring unit and to communicate via voice with the patient. The medical care provider can also flexibly reconfigure the device to change collection parameters. When an alarm limit is exceeded as detected by the sensors, the data are transmitted to the Host computer for use by the medical care provider, thereby allowing full mobility to the patient wearing the device.

System and method for active mobile collaboration

A communication system is provided that uses loosely-coupled client-server architectures to improve the efficiency of communications. The communication system includes client and facilitator applications. The client application is a component of processor-based mobile communication devices. The facilitator application is hosted on one or more servers or other processor-based devices, and communicates with the client application via one or more couplings. The facilitator application can also be distributed among one or more portable processor-based devices including the communication devices hosting the client application. The communication system improves efficiency of voice communications by allowing communication device users to dynamically manage how and when mobile calls take place, intelligently screen calls based on caller identity, urgency, and subject matter, determine which contacts in a directory are available to talk and which ones choose not to be disturbed, and increase accessibility of enterprise and personal contact information from mobile phones.

System and method for the creation and automatic deployment of personalized dynamic and interactive voice services

This invention relates to a system and method for creation and automatic deployment of personalized, dynamic and interactive voice services, including information derived from on-line analytical processing (OLAP) systems and other data repositories. More specifically, the invention relates to a system and method that enable personalized delivery of information in real-time, via natural language voice communication with a voice-enabled terminal device. The system and method combines personalized information broadcast technology with an active voice page. An active voice page is created by the system, stored in a call database and used to generate dynamic voice menus. A call server retrieves the AVP from the call database and delivers the content of the service by dialing a subscriber's telephone number, speaking message text to the subscriber and recording the subscriber's input in response to the call menus. A unique AVP is generated for each subscriber scheduled to receive voice service content.

High frequency network multiplexed communications over various lines using multiple modulated carrier frequencies

An apparatus is provided for high frequency multiplexed electrical line communication for cable TV, telephone, internet, security and other control applications over the mid and low voltage power lines and directly through the transformers. The apparatus includes a transmitter, a receiver, a modem, a multiplexer and multiple couplers at each of two or more locations along an electrical line. The couplers have capacitive circuits serially connected with an air-core or dielectric-core transformer. The capacitive circuits resonate with the transformer at a preselected frequency. The coupler eliminates noise and is matched to the characteristic impedance of the line at the preselected frequency, which linearizes communication on the line and allows high speed data and voice communication over long distances. Multiple modulators and demodulators are used to produce multiple modulated carrier frequencies.

Apparatus and method for packet-based media communications

Packet-based central conference bridges, packet-based network interfaces and packet-based terminals are used for voice communications over a packet-based network. Modifications to these apparatuses can reduce the latency and the signal processing requirements while increasing the signal quality within a voice conference as well as point-to-point communications. For instance, by selecting the talkers prior to the decompression of the voice signals, decreases in the latency and increases in signal quality within the voice conference can result due to a possible removal of the decompression and subsequent compression operations in a conference bridge unnecessary in some circumstances. Further, the removal of the jitter buffers within the conference bridges and the moving of the mixing operation to the individual terminals and / or network interfaces are modifications that can cause lower latency and transcoding within the voice conference.

Voice-over-IP enabled chat

A network-based system and method for providing anonymous voice communications using the telephone network and data communications links under the direction of a Call Broker and associated network elements. A user (the call initiator) present in a text chat room session establishes a data connection to Call Broker and, after qualifying for access (e.g., using credit card information) and providing a callback number, receives voice session information and participant access codes for each desired participant in a voice call. The initiator causes session information and participant codes to be passed to one or more selected chat participants in the current text chat room. When a selected participant uses the received session information, and enters the received participant code and a callback number, the Call Broker in cooperation with a Network Adjunct Processor (NAP) completes voice links to the initiator and the selected participant(s). The need for each party to have a second subscriber line is advantageously avoided by having the Call Broker arrange to have one or more voice links completed through a VoIP link, and further reduces the need for second lines for participants by forwarding a Call Broker—placed call to a busy participant line to the participant's Internet Service Provider (ISP), which then sends a message to the participant announcing one or more options for receiving the incoming call, including receiving the incoming call through a VoIP link.

Enabling communication between users surfing the same web page

A web page is YACHNEE™ enabled by providing an icon on the page which allows actuation upon being clicked. The user is then able to design a character to represent him on the screen. He also sees characters on screen representing other users, which characters have been designed by the users. A user may move his character all over the screen by dragging it with his mouse and may rotate it towards or away from other characters. The characters may speak to each other, either through a voice communication or typing, in which case the text appears in a bubble (cartoon fashion). A user may change the appearance of a character to reflect an emotion (e.g. anger) and he may invite other characters to a private chat. When a user leaves the web page, the corresponding character disappears from all other users' screens. Communication among users viewing the same web page is facilitated without the need for any program or plug-in other than what is standard in a web browser. Additionally, such features as the automatic generation and de-activation of chat-rooms are possible, which in previous applications are pre-defined and independent of the presence of users.

Apparatus and computer code for providing social-network dependent information retrieval services

Methods, apparatus and computer code for providing information retrieval services (e.g. handling search queries and providing electronic advertising) in accordance with a given user's social network are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, an information retrieval operation is handled according to the click stream and / or taste profile and / or user profile of different associated users of the social network—for example, indirect contacts. The respective influence, for any associated user (i.e. within the social network), of the associated user's click stream and / or taste profile and / or user profile on the handling of an information retrieval operation for the “given user” may be determined by a “closeness function” between the associated user and the given user. The closeness function and / or the taste profile and / or user profile of any associated user may, in some embodiments, be determined by analyzing electronic communications—for example, text chat communications and / or voice communications that optionally include video.
