Method for accelerated dechlorination of matter

InactiveUS7129388B2Accelerated dechlorinationIncreasing rate of biological mineralizationContaminated soil reclamationSolventAnaerobic microorganisms
Accelerated dechlorination of soil and water contaminated with chlorinated solvents is achieved by stimulating anaerobic microorganisms and thus increasing the rate of biological mineralization of the solvents. This is accomplished by a treatment process consisting of colloidal suspension of iron powder, polylactate ester such as glycerol tripolylactate, xylitol pentapolylactate, and sorbitol hexapolylactate, chemical oxygen scavengers in solution with essential nutrients, and vitamin stimulants such as B2 and B12 delivered via compressed gases N or C02 so as not to oxygenate an environment targeted for anaerobic processes. The treatment stimulates naturally occurring microorganisms while oxidizing dissolved phase target compounds via the surface action of the iron particles resulting in the breakdown of chlorinated solvents such as tetrachloroethene, trichloroethene, carbon tetrachloride and their daughter products.

Castable infrared illuminant compositions

Compositions are provided which, when burned, produce significant levels of infrared radiation, but only limited levels of visible radiation. The basic components of the compositions include a binder, an oxidizer, and a fuel, where the binder also acts the fuel. Preferred oxidizers include those compounds which produce large quantities of infrared radiation when the flare composition is burned. Such oxidizers include potassium nitrate, cesium nitrate, rubidium nitrate, and combinations of these compounds. Selection of the binder is important in order to provide the composition with the desirable characteristics identified above. The binder of the present invention does not produce significant soot. At the same time, the binder serves to form a composition which is processible, avoids chunking, and is compatible with the oxidizers used. It has been found that polymer binders which include relatively short carbon chains (1-6 continuous carbon atoms) are preferred. Examples of such polymers include polyesters, polyethers, polyamides, and polyamines.

Order scheduling system and methodology

An order scheduling system providing a method for distributing product orders to multiple fulfillers is described. This method, which solves the common business problem of scheduling order shipments, is optimal because it minimizes the number of orders across fulfillers, thus minimizing shipping costs. It is also fair because orders are distributed equally across fulfillers if that fulfiller has the product available. To schedule orders, a data structure is defined whose rows are represented by a hash table of Fulfillers (HF), where each column is a hash table of Products (HP) and where each index of HP is itself a bit vector (VPi). This gives a three-dimensional data structure. The method operates by performing bitwise ANDing (&) operations of the bit vectors, to generate an Order bit vector representing the optimized fulfillment (per system configuration / constraints) for a particular received order.
