Apparatus and method for detecting step in a personal navigator

A step detecting apparatus and method in a personal navigator where acceleration signals in at least two directions are acquired from an accelerometer sensor, as a pedestrian moves. Variances of the acceleration signals are calculated and summed. The variance sum is compared with a threshold. If the variance sum is greater than the threshold, it is determined that a detected step is a walking step. If the variance sum is less than the threshold, it is determined that the detected step is a mark-time step.

Gradient coil with correction windings and method for production thereof

In a coil arrangement for nuclear magnetic resonance comprising a main coil (13), a shielding coil (14), and at least one correction coil (41), the function of which consists in forming a magnetic field gradient with eddy current properties which are as good as possible, the main coil (13) and the shielding coil (14) are electrically connected in series with the correction coil (41). The deviations of the residual field from the desired design generated by production tolerances are thereby modified by the correction coil in such a fashion that the long-lasting eddy currents are suppressed. This either reduces the waiting time that must lapse after a gradient pulse before a predetermined field homogeneity is achieved or e.g. the deviations from the desired field are minimized in imaging applications.

Methods, systems, and computer readable media for identifying qualifying consumer offers

This disclosure concerns the identification of qualifying consumer offers. In one example, the identification is performed by a server. The server first receives an electronic graphical representation of purchase information and extracts from the graphical representation text data elements relating to the purchase. The server then matches the text data elements to criteria of one or more consumer offers to identify qualifying offers, such that predetermined criteria of the qualifying offer is successfully matched to the data elements. Finally, the server sends or displays to the consumer information relating to the qualifying consumer offers. Identifying offers that a purchase qualifies for is automatic, and more efficient and less costly to deliver. Commonly used receipts can be used as purchase information and there is no requirement for the receipt to contain any particular notation. This makes the method agnostic to the retailer.

Wiring correction method

The presence of defects in a wiring pattern is checked by a visual method, by image processing, or the like, and when a defect is detected, information such as the position, coordinates, and size of the defect is confirmed, the type of defect is confirmed, and a processing method and processing conditions are set in accordance with the defect type and conditions (step S1). Shorting defects are corrected based on the processing method and processing conditions that have been set and the defect information that has been confirmed (step S2). Subsequently, disconnection defects are corrected based on the set processing method and processing conditions and the confirmed defect information (step S3). Upon completion of these correction operations, a determination is made as to whether the defects have been corrected (step S4). By this means, the operating time for wiring correction can be shortened, and automation facilitated.
