629 results about "Equidistant" patented technology

A point is said to be equidistant from a set of objects if the distances between that point and each object in the set are equal. In two-dimensional Euclidean geometry, the locus of points equidistant from two given (different) points is their perpendicular bisector. In three dimensions, the locus of points equidistant from two given points is a plane, and generalising further, in n-dimensional space the locus of points equidistant from two points in n-space is an (n−1)-space.

Method and apparatus to correct distortion of document copies

Pages of books are copied without distortion due to curvature of the page near the book binding or the distortion in a copied page is corrected using the spacing of equidistant bars on tape strips applied to the top and bottom edges of a page before copying. The tape is preferably transparent and rather narrow and easily attached to a page to be copied. The first step in the distortion correction procedure is to locate the bars at the top and bottom of the page. The distortion of the spacing between the imaged bars is computed based on the known distance between the equidistant bars. The computed distortion of the spacing is then input to a distortion correction algorithm. The output of the distortion correction algorithm generates a corrected image. This image may also optionally delete the bars so that they are not printed in the copy. The corrected image is then copied.

Groundwater flow measuring system

A probe for monitoring groundwater flow seepage velocity and direction has an electrical heater and a plurality of temperature sensors located equidistant from the heater. The probe with the heater and temperature sensors is lowered into a monitoring well and positioned so as to be immersed in the groundwater. Energy is sent to the heater, and the temperature response at the temperature sensors is measured and recorded. From the measured response to temperature, the groundwater flow velocity and direction are computed and recorded. The temperature sensors may be resistance temperature detectors, thermocouples, or any other state-of-the-art temperature sensing device.

Lateral flow assay device with multiple equidistant capture zones

A lateral flow test strip for the analysis of a sample featuring numerous capture zones arranged in an array such that each capture zone is substantially equidistant from the sample containing area. The sample does not pass through another capture zone to reach any one of the other capture zones. The capture zones are preferably arranged in a linear array perpendicular to the flow of the sample through the lateral flow test strip. The lateral flow test strip allows for an increased number of simultaneous analyses of numerous analytes from one sample to occur on one lateral flow test strip.

Expandable mandrel having adjustable width

InactiveUS6390166B1Locking" of the drum widthTyresRotational axisRadial position
A rotatable drum useful in the manufacture of vehicle tires. A plurality of segments collectively define the outer circumferential surface of the drum. These segments are divided into two sets, one set being disposed on each of the opposite sides of a transverse center plane of the drum, the center plane being oriented normal to the rotational axis of the drum. The two sets of segments are mounted for selective positioning thereof axially of the drum from a location external of the drum to adjust the overall working width of the drum. Further, the segments are selectively positionable between expanded positions radially of the rotational axis of the drum to provide a relatively continuous circumferential outer surface of the drum for the layup of a tire carcass thereon, and collapsed positions radially of the drum to permit the removal of a formed toroidal carcass from the drum. Movement of the plurality of segments of each of the two sets of segments radially of the rotational axis of the drum is effected by "slaving" the two sets of segments off a central mechanism which controls the radial positions of all the segments simultaneously and equidistantly from the rotational axis of the drum, while further providing for axial movement of the two sets of segments relative to one another while the segments are positioned at any given radial location of the segments.

Rotatable air knife

An air knife or air nozzle manifold for drying or blowing off passing articles moved by a conveyor system is provided with a coupling that permits rotation of the air knife or air nozzle manifold relative to the air inlet duct leading from a blower. The air knife or air nozzle manifold has opposing ends located equidistant from a longitudinal axis of rotation relative to a stationary element of the coupling. Thrust nozzles are provided at each of the opposing ends of the air knife or air nozzle manifold to deflect a certain portion of the air from the plenum chamber to provide thrusting jets of air that rotate the air knife or air nozzle manifold about the longitudinal axis. The flow of air emitted from the air knife or air nozzle manifold is thereby directed onto the passing articles from different directions as the articles move by. The efficiency of drying and blowing off the articles to be processed is thereby significantly improved.

System and Method for Generating 2D Texture Coordinates for 3D Meshed Surfaces

Systems and methods for generating 2D texture coordinates for 3D surfaces meshes may assign initial 2D texture coordinates to each node within a mesh using dead reckoning, compute a conformal mapping solution to revise the texture coordinates dependent on the initial mapping, and store the texture coordinates for subsequent use in a graphics application (e.g., applying a texture and / or re-meshing a surface). The methods may include designating one node as the origin, determining the shortest distance from each other node to the origin, and computing texture coordinates for each other node in order of increasing distance to the origin. The dead reckoning operation may compute texture coordinates of each node dependent on the distance and direction of a vector formed between the node and a neighbor node to which texture coordinates have already been assigned. Isometric terms reflecting stretching or compression may be introduced following convergence by the conformal mapping.

Fiber holder

The invention is a suspension plate system for providing access to hanks of fiber. The system may include a circular, transparent, plastic disc having a plurality of truncated conic circular bores located equidistant from the center of the disc and being substantially equidistant from each other. Each bore has a larger diameter opening on the top of the disc and a smaller diameter opening on the bottom of the disc. A plurality of generally radial slots equal in number to the number of bores are located on the disc to communicate between each bore and the outer edge of the disc. Each bore provides a device wherein a hank of fiber, cut into substantially equal lengths to other hanks and divided by color and / or nature can be presented for display and use. The hank of fiber of like color and / or nature is bound by a knob-like binder that can be captured in one of the bores, with the hank of fiber suspended down from the disc, thus locking the hank of fiber in place relative to other hanks and to the disc. The binder is captured because its effective diameter is between the diameters of the upper and lower openings of the bore. The slot allows the hank of fiber to be axially placed within the bore without the hank having to be threaded longitudinally into the bore.
