Thermal infrared spectroscopy (TIR spectroscopy) is the subset of infrared spectroscopy that deals with radiation emitted in the infrared part of the electromagnetic spectrum. The emitted infrared radiation, though similar to blackbody radiation, is different in that the radiation is banded at characteristic vibrations in the material. The method measures the thermal infrared radiation emitted (as opposed to being transmitted or reflected) from a volume or surface. This method is commonly used to identify the composition of surface by analyzing its spectrum and comparing it to previously measured materials. It is particularly suited to airborne and spaceborne applications.

Compact apparatus for noninvasive measurement of glucose through near-infrared spectroscopy

A near IR spectrometer-based analyzer attaches continuously or semi-continuously to a human subject and collects spectral measurements for determining a biological parameter in the sampled tissue, such as glucose concentration. The analyzer includes an optical system optimized to target the cutaneous layer of the sampled tissue so that interference from the adipose layer is minimized. The optical system includes at least one optical probe. Spacing between optical paths and detection fibers of each probe and between probes is optimized to minimize sampling of the adipose subcutaneous layer and to maximize collection of light backscattered from the cutaneous layer. Penetration depth is optimized by limiting range of distances between paths and detection fibers. Minimizing sampling of the adipose layer greatly reduces interference contributed by the fat band in the sample spectrum, increasing signal-to-noise ratio. Providing multiple probes also minimizes interference in the sample spectrum due to placement errors.

Method and apparatus for downhole quantification of methane using near infrared spectroscopy

The present invention describes a unique method and apparatus for applying near-infrared spectroscopy to estimate weight percent of methane in crude oil from which one can then infer gas-oil ratio (GOR) of crude oils downhole in real time while collecting a fluid sample. The correlation equations provided by this invention use two wavelengths, one centered at 1670 and the other centered at 1682 nm. Both wavelengths are primarily sensitive to the methane peak absorption. To significantly improve the fit, non-spectroscopic parameters, such as temperature or pressure, can be included in the correlation equation. Also, this invention can be used to monitor sample cleanup by monitoring the increase in GOR associated with cleanup as a fluid being pumped from the formation transitions from mostly gas-free filtrate to mostly gas-containing crude oil.

The invention discloses a method and a device for online detection of biomass basic characteristics based on near infrared spectroscopy. The online detection method comprises the following steps: acquiring the near infrared spectrums of at least 50 biomass samples; measuring the basic characteristics of the biomass samples by use of a physical-chemical method, thereby obtaining the values of various basic characteristics; next, establishing a correction model between the near infrared spectrum signals of the biomass samples and the basic characteristics by use of a least square method; performing spectrum scanning on the biomass to be tested and acquiring the near infrared spectrum of the biomass to be tested; inputting the obtained near infrared spectrum signal into the correction model between the near infrared spectrum signals and the basic characteristics, thereby obtaining the basic characteristics of the tested biomass. The online detection method has the advantages of high detection accuracy, good result consistency and high automation degree as the optical detection method based on the near infrared spectrum is applied to the detection process of the biomass basic characteristics; besides, the online detection method has excellent practicability and economical efficiency and creates conditions for efficient comprehensive large-scale utilization of the biomass.

The method comprises the following steps: (1) selecting a piece of umbrella skirt and a piece of umbrella cover from each of a high-voltage end, a low-voltage and the middle part of a to-be-evaluated composite insulator, and clipping the six pieces to obtain test samples, wherein the size of each sample is not over 5cm*5cm; (2) performing Fourier infrared spectroscopy testing on the test samples, computing corresponding Si-CH3 infrared peak area according to a Fourier infrared spectrogram; and (3) performing aging degree classification on the to-be-evaluated composite insulator according to the maximum value of the Si-CH3 infrared peak area in the six test samples, wherein the classification standard is as follows: the composite insulator has unobvious aging when the Si-CH3 infrared peak area is more than 4.5; the composite insulator is lightly aged when the Si-CH3 infrared peak area is not more than 4.5 and more than 2.5; the composite insulator is obviously aged when the Si-CH3 infrared peak area is not more than 2.5 and more than 1.2; and the composite insulator is severely aged when the Si-CH3 infrared peak area is not more than 1.2. The evaluation method of the composite insulator silicone rubber aging degree provided by the invention has the advantages of being convenient for measurement, small in workload and accurate in measured data, and a new means for clearly judging the aging degree of composite insulator silicone rubber at the microcosmic aspect is provided for the electric system.

Non-linear modeling method based on near infrared spectroscopy and system thereof

The invention provides a non-linear modeling method based on near infrared spectroscopy and a system thereof. The method comprises the following steps: spectrogram of each experimental sample is acquired and converted into near infrared spectroscopic data; a part of each near infrared spectroscopic data is picked out at random as a calibration set, and a part is picked out as a validation set; thecalibration set and the validation set undergo principal component analysis to obtain a spectral feature space; in the spectral feature space, samples in the calibration set that are the most similarto the samples of the validation set are picked out as a calibration subset through a Mahalanobis distance method; and principal component number is extracted from the calibration subset as an inputlayer of a BP neural network to establish a regression model. By the above method, the problem of multiple correlations among various factors can be solved, and much noise and some useless informationare also avoided. Variable dimension is reduced, and based on nonlinear mapping ability and adaptive learning ability of the BP neural network, predictive stability and precision of the model are raised.

Also, the method can be used for evaluating quality differences and stability of each batch of PienTzeHuang. The method has the advantages of short detection time, high speed, accurate determination, and capability of online detection. With the method, manpower and material resources can be greatly saved, and substantial economic and social benefits are provided.

The method comprises the steps that: (1) various crude oil samples are collected; distillate component yields of the crude oil samples at every distillation temperature are determined with a standard method; and a crude oil sample yield matrix under each distillation temperature is respectively established; (2) infrared spectra of the crude oil samples under different temperatures are determined; a differential treatment is carried out; light absorbance at a 677-3060cm<-1> characteristic spectral region form a three-dimensional spectral matrix X (I*J*K); X is respectively subjected to a multidimensional partial least square method with a component yield matrix at each distillation temperature, such tat a correction model of distillate yield under each distillation temperature is established; and (3) infrared spectra of a crude oil sample requiring determination under different temperatures are determined under a same condition of that of the collected crude oil samples; a differential treatment is carried out; light absorbance at a characteristic spectral region form a three-dimensional spectral matrix of the crude oil sample; the matrix is introduced into the correction model of component yield under each distillation temperature established in the step (2), such that the crude oil sample true boiling point distillation curve is obtained. With the method, crude oil sample true boiling point rapid prediction is realized, such that a fast and convenient method is provided for determining crude oil processing scheme and optimizing production decisions.
