Non-invasive substance concentration measurement using and optical bridge

An improved method for non-invasively measuring a concentration of a target analyte dissolved in a fluid flowing through a sample is presented. It includes directing a probe beam of electromagnetic radiation, consisting of time multiplexed components of different wavelengths, through the sample and measuring the difference of the absorption of the radiation at at least one wavelength pair at different sample states. During sample state changes, the amount of fluid containing the target analyte within the sample is changing, which varies the total amount of target analyte in the sample, as well as the absorption properties of the sample. The sample states are produced, for instance, by compressing and uncompressing the tissue sample. The accuracy of the presented method is enhanced by including continuous estimation of the amount of the fluid containing the target analyte within the sample, and measurement of the variations of the absorption at a wavelength at which the target analyte absorbs significantly. The method is particularly useful in measuring the concentration of a target analyte, such as glucose, in tissue containing blood. An apparatus for performing this method also is disclosed.

Time Interleaved Exposures And Multiplexed Illumination

Samples of a scene are acquired in synchronization with finely interleaved varying conditions such as lighting, aperture, focal length, and so forth. A time-varying sample at each pixel for each condition is reconstructed. Time multiplexed interleaving allows for real-time, live applications, while handling motion blur naturally. Effects such as real-time video relighting of a scene is possible. Time interleaved exposures also allow segmentation of a scene, and allows for constrained special effects such as triangulation matting using a multi-color interleaved chroma key.

Method and apparatus for polarization-insensitive quantum cryptography

A communication system uses quantum cryptography for the secure distribution of a key. A single-photon signal is phase-modulated and transmitted over a pair of time-multiplexed transmission paths. With each original single-photon signal in a given one of the transmission paths, a duplicate signal is transmitted. The duplicate is identically modulated and orthogonally polarized. At the receiver, the outputs of the two paths are combined interferometrically. A single polarization-insensitive measurement is derived from the combined contributions of the orthogonally polarized signals.

Systems for CMOS-compatible three-dimensional image sensing using quantum efficiency modulation

A preferably CMOS-implementable system measures distance and / or brightness by illuminating a target with emitted optical energy having a modulated periodic waveform whose high frequency component may be idealized as S.sub.1=cos(.omega..multidot.t). Time-multiplexed broadband and multi-filtered electro-optic sensor

An EO sensor is configured to time multiplex a primary optical channel that provides high detection sensitivity to maintain high SNR and a multi-filtered optical channel that provides detection in different measurement bands (e.g. spectral, polarization, amplitude or phase). The channels may, for example, be time multiplexed based on range to target or within each integration period of the EO sensor. The multi-filtered optical channel uses a field directing array to sample the FOV to form different optical sub-channels that are filtered by different optical filters. These sub-channels may be spatially multiplexed onto different sub-regions of the detector or may be time multiplexed onto the entire detector. The light modulator used to time multiplex the primary and multi-filtered optical channels may be used to time de-multiplex spatially overlapping regions of the FOV onto a pixel of the detector in order to detect high spatial resolution images with low resolution detectors.

Three-dimensional imaging method and system for human body

The invention belongs to the technical field of three-dimensional imaging, and provides a three-dimensional imaging method and system for a human body and a simultaneous calibration method for multiple control base stations. Under the condition that spatial overlap does not exist in effective view fields of all distributed sensors, the structural parameters and the global matching parameters of all the sensors are calibrated. By using the corresponding point searching method with phase shift combined with random structured light, the image collection time for obtaining single-viewpoint depth data is shortened. By using the thought of time multiplexing, the whole data collection time of the system is compressed, due to the design of distributed computing, the computing power of the whole system is enhanced, and the speed for data acquisition is increased. According to the calibrated global matching parameters of all the different sensors, the depth data of the different sensors are matched automatically. The system can be debugged and expanded conveniently, the automation degree is high, and the three-dimension scanning process is easy to implement.

Image altering apparatus and method for providing confidential viewing of a fundamental display image

An image altering apparatus which provides confidential viewing of a video display by means of time multiplexing the fundamental display image with a color-inverted image thereof on a pixel-by-pixel basis. Electronic circuitry and / or software are utilized to modify the fundamental image signal by time multiplexing its color data components with corresponding inverse color data components to generate a compound image signal which is representative of a substantially featureless image. Different multiplexing sequences of color data components and inverse color data components may be utilized at varying duty cycles to generate a compound image which is highly confidential and secure from unauthorized viewing. The fundamental image may be decoded and viewed only by those viewing the encoded image through specially designed eyeglasses incorporating time synchronized LCD shutters, variable polarizers, or color filters, which can selectively block inverted color components and / or demodulate the fundamental image to allow only the true fundamental color components to pass, thereby providing confidential and highly secure viewing of the fundamental image by the viewer.
