The matrix component of the ALS or LTM provides a structural framework for cells that guide their direction of growth, enables them to be correctly spaced, prevents overcrowding, enables cells to communicate between each other, transmit subtle biological signals, receive signals from their environment, form bonds and contacts that are required for proper functioning of all cells within a unit such as a tissue, or combinations thereof. The ALS or LTM may thus provide proper or supporting mechanical and chemical environments, signals, or stimuli to other cells, to the cells that produce the ALS, to surrounding tissue at an implantation site, to a wound, for in vitro and ex vivo generation and regeneration of cells, tissue and organs, or combinations thereof. They may also provide other cells with nutrients, growth factors, and/or other necessary or useful components. They may also take in or serve as buffers for certain substances in the environment, and have also some potential at adapting to new environments.

There is provided a framework for a construction enclosure system comprising a plurality of brackets, a plurality of rigid elongated frame members, and a plurality of reinforcement members. The brackets are adapted to be attached to a structure under construction. The frame members are adapted to be retained by the brackets in a desired spatial relationship with an outer face of the structure. The frame members are adapted to retain one or more sheet-like enclosure panels. The reinforcement members are adapted to be secured against respective frame members to increase the rigidity of such frame members. One embodiment of the invention provides a frame member comprising a pair of elongated bodies adapted to be retained in a mated configuration to cooperatively define first and second channels therebetween, wherein each channel is adapted to retain one edge portion of a sheet-like enclosure panel.

Containerized transportable building structure and method of assembly

Method and apparatus for transforming a plurality of standard-size shipping containers into a finished multi-level building structure of a scale to accommodate humans. Each of the illustrated shipping containers has an open generally rectangular center structural frame which supports panels to provide exterior base, end and top walls. A pair of movable side walls, each having a structural frame and wall panel, are connected to the center frame to complete the enclosure. The containers hold wall and roof sections. Initially the containers are stacked atop one another with their base walls at the bottom. Then, starting at the lowermost container, the side walls, which are hingedly connected along their bottom edges to the center frame, are opened by being pivoted outwardly, downwardly to provide extended floor portions that are in general horizontal alignment with the associated base wall. Then support structures or members are secured to that extended floor portions to provide support for the extended floor portions of the next higher level. Next, the moveable side walls of the next higher container are similarly opened and secured to the support members so as to generally vertically align with the extended floor portions below them. This continues until all the stacked containers have been opened. Finally, wall and roof panels stored in the containers are removed and installed.

The invention provides a three-dimensional framework fast extraction method based on branch feathers, which comprises the following steps: firstly, automatically extracting root points and tip end points of a tree type voxel model; then, carrying out seed point distance conversion on the root points and the tip end points of the voxel model; automatically judging the branching feathers and optimizing cutting surfaces according to the growth strategy of regions from the root points or the tip end points; decomposing an object into meaningful components with reasonable delimitation between components; and finally, extracting voxel component frameworks and connecting the voxel component frameworks into a structural framework of the object. The framework fast extraction method based on branch feathers is fast and effectively, and the structural integral frameworks maintain topological structures of the original voxel model, and can not generate fracture and redundant complicated branches. The actual plant model construction is carried out on the basis of the framework, the actual scanning data can be processed, and the invention has the anti-noise capability and has high reconstruction accuracy. The test on a plurality of data sets proves that the invention is applicable to bodies with annular structures and can process surface voxel models and solid voxel models.

System for and method of monitoring structural integrity of a structure

The present invention, in one embodiment, is a system for determining the structural change (e.g., degradation) of a structural framework coupled to a support base, wherein the structural framework is subjected to first and second periods of excitation. The system comprises a plurality of motion sensors and a CPU. The plurality of motion sensors are distributed along the structural framework. The CPU is in communication with the motion sensors. The plurality of sensors provides to the CPU first motion data that is associated with the first period of excitation. The CPU deconvolves the first motion data to separate a first structural response pertaining to the structural framework from an effect of the first excitation and an effect of the structural framework being coupled to the support base. The plurality of sensors provides to the CPU second motion data that is associated with the second period of excitation. The CPU deconvolves the second motion data to separate a second structural response pertaining to the structural framework from an effect of the second excitation and an effect of the structural framework being coupled to the support base. The CPU compares the first and second structural response to determine whether the structural framework has structurally changed (e.g., degraded).
