A face is located in the color digital image by using the integral image to perform a correlation test between the mean grid pattern element image and the digital color image at a plurality of effective resolutions by reducing the digital color image to a plurality of grid pattern element images at different effective resolutions and correlating the mean grid pattern element image with the plurality of grid pattern element images, whereby either the mean grid pattern element image or the grid pattern element images are provided at a plurality of different orientations. Accordingly, an orientation of the face in the color digital image is determined by using the images with different orientations in the correlation test.

The invention provides a pouch having a frangible seal comprised of two strips of thermoplastic material that are disposed in the interior of the pouch, and sealed to each other in a face-to face orientation. A first strip of thermoplastic material is sealed to an interior surface of one side of the pouch, and the second strip of thermoplastic material is sealed to an interior surface of the opposite side of the pouch. The strips of thermoplastic material are adapted to form stronger bonds with the front and rear sheets than they are with each other. As a result, the strength of the seal between the two strips of material may be controlled to produce a frangible seal that can be broken with minimal effort and without having to sacrifice the desired heat sealing properties of the film forming the pouch.

Method and apparatus for directional drilling with variable drill string rotation

Apparatus and methodology is provided for directional drilling which avoid the effects of static friction between the drill string and the borehole. The drill string is rotated continuously in one direction during rotating drilling and during steering. During steering, the rotary speed of the drill string is varied within a revolution and substantially similarly for each of a plurality of subsequent revolutions. The drill string is rotated very slowly when oriented at or near the desired orientation to achieve the desired change in direction and then rotated much faster during the balance of each revolution. This angular velocity profile results in drilling at or near a desired orientation for a high percentage of the time it takes for each revolution. Changes in an effective tool-face orientation can be effected by shifting the phase of the velocity profile.

Such a crystal grain creation step is repeated, to form a crystalline film which has crystal grains preferentially grown in the {100} orientations with respect to the vertical direction of the substrate and thereby has sharp square-shaped crystal grain boundaries.
