Food order fulfillment system deploying a universal in-store point-of-sale (POS) for preparation and pickup scheduling

A remote ordering system including a universal in-store point-of-sale (POS) system deployed to allow a remote-ordering user to customize, pay and transmit a food order to a vending merchant and to provide means for transmitting to the user a confirmation of receipt of the food order in real time together with a merchant commitment to a precise pickup time, thereby facilitating food order fulfillment immediately upon user arrival at the committed pickup time. One aspect of the invention allows a “curb-side” remotely-ordering user to notify the vending restaurant of arrival for fulfillment through a telephone call to an interactive voice response element, which then transmits an arrival notification message to the restaurant.

Thermal control system and method

A system and method for controlling the temperature of a process tool uses the vaporizable characteristic of a refrigerant that is provided in direct heat exchange relation with the process tool. Pressurized refrigerant is provided as both condensed liquid and in gaseous state. The condensed liquid is expanded to a vaporous mix, and the gaseous refrigerant is added to reach a target temperature determined by its pressure. Temperature corrections can thus be made very rapidly by gas pressure adjustments. The process tool and the operating parameters will usually require that the returning refrigerant be conditioned and processed for compatibility with the compressor and other units, so that cycling can be continuous regardless of thermal demands and changes.

System and method for converting the digital typesetting documents used in publishing to a device-specfic format for electronic publishing

A system and method that converts the digital typesetting documents used in publishing to a device-specific format for electronic publishing. A “smart file and device-specific application” approach maintains the “look and feel” (design) of the source document used for print publication while typesetting for a specific device. Although this approach requires considerably more resources to create a smart file for each device-specific format, the smart file retains the unique typesetting characteristics of the printed book, is more aesthetically pleasing, and is easier to read. Furthermore, the device-specific application can render the smart file more quickly thereby eliminating any latency.

System and method for optimizing write operations in storage systems

Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, system, and computer program product for optimizing I / O operations performed by a storage server operating on behalf of multiple clients to access data on a plurality of storage devices (disks). Embodiments of the present invention eliminate the need for selected read operations to write new data to physical data blocks by zeroing the physical data blocks to which new data will be written. Additionally, the need for reading old parity to compute new parity is eliminated. Instead, new parity is computed from the data to be written without the need of old parity or the storage server sends a command to a disk that stores parity. A module implemented at the disk that stores parity executes the command without reading, by the storage server, old parity. Eliminating the need for reading old data and for reading old parity eliminates some rotation latency and improves overall system's performance.

Single-chip microcomputer

Flash ROMs operate at a speed slower than that of a CPU. In order to raise the operating speed of a single-chip microcomputer, therefore, interleaving is adopted and a plurality of flash ROMs are operated alternately to obtain an apparent operating speed equivalent to that of a CPU. Read clock generating circuits are placed in close proximity to clock input pins of respective ones of the flash ROMs and supply the flash ROMs with read clocks obtained by dividing down the frequency of a system clock. Delay ascribable to wiring is eliminated from the read clocks as a result.

Methods of forming tungsten nucleation layer

The nucleation delay in the formation of a tungsten layer on a substrate is reduced or eliminated by alternative processes. In one process the substrate is exposed to atomic hydrogen before the tungsten nucleation layer is formed. In the other process the substrate is exposed to a boron hydride such as diborane (B2H6) before the nucleation layer is formed. The process works effectively to reduce or eliminate the tungsten nucleation delay on a variety of surfaces, including silicon, silicon dioxide, silicon nitride and titanium nitride.

Method, system and program product for caching data objects

Under the present invention, a history of requests for data objects are tracked and maintained in a cache log. Based on the history, certain data objects are prefetched into a cache. When a request for a cached data object is later received, the requested data object can be retrieved from the cache and served to the requesting user. Thus, the latency involved with obtaining the data objects from the appropriate sources is eliminated. Further, under the present invention, discard and refresh rules are assigned to each data object on a class basis. Accordingly, data objects in the cache can be refreshed and / or discarded so that the caching operation can be optimized.

Market management system

A market management system is designed to manage energy industry standardized transactions between energy providers and utility distribution customers. The system includes business process and transaction validations along with transaction tracking. The market management system processes transactions in its own data format but stores the transactions in a client's customer information system (CIS) using the CIS's data format. Using only the CIS database for transaction storage eliminates the need to synchronize transaction records in the CIS database with records in a market management database. Exception management is integrated with the CIS to eliminate duplication of effort. The market management system's functionality is scalable such that varying levels of service may be provided to customers. Predetermined business rules may be customized for the purpose of validating transactions.

BIXCoin: A Secure Peer-to-Peer Payment System Based on the Public Payments Ledger

InactiveUS20170344983A1Fully and accurately validatedEliminate delaysCryptography processingPayment circuitsUser needsThird party
This invention describes a secure peer-to-peer payment system based on the use of a virtual currency, virtual accounts, and a public payments ledger. The virtual currency used in the system is stable, as it is pegged to real-world currencies with unit values equivalent to the national currency of the country of deployment. The virtual accounts are specially designed and cryptographically encapsulated objects that can be opened (created), initially loaded, cleared (suspended / terminated), and used (credited / debited) for direct account-to-account payments. Validation of payment transactions is supported by a public payments ledger that prevents the use of the system by illegal or unauthorized users, eliminates illegal payments, prevents the use of illegal currency, and double-spending. The ledger contains instances of virtual accounts, so validation of payments is instantaneous based on the validation of the balances of the two participating accounts. Validation protocol can be at several assurance levels, reflecting user needs, financial policies, and the value of the payment transactions. The system has no third parties and uses community validation protocols. Furthermore, it does not store any secret, private, or sensitive user credentials, so it is not vulnerable to any type of attack. It provides full security, privacy, and anonymity for users, their virtual accounts, and their payment transactions.
