Wind turbine generator

Disclosed is a wind turbine generator, which effectively uses wind velocity while generating a minimum of noise. Two blade assemblies, which are subjected to natural wind velocity to rotate for driving a power generator, are coaxially mounted one behind the other. When the front end and rear blade assemblies in this configuration both catch a wind to rotate, the rear blade assembly rotates as it catches not only the wind that comes from the front and is rectified by the front blade assembly, but also a wind that is generated by the front blade assembly, which is rotating. This enables the rear blade assembly to rotate with high efficiency and continuously rotate even when the wind velocity is low.

High dynamic range pre-power amplifier incorporating digital attenuator

A novel digital attenuator circuit and associated pre-power amplifier (PPA) that substantially increases the dynamic range of the amplifier. Increased dynamic range is achieved by placing a digital current attenuator circuit at the output of the pre-power amplifier so that the minimum possible current output of the transistor switch array of the PPA can be further attenuated. The attenuator functions to split the current between the load and the power supply VDD (i.e. AC ground) based on device ratio that is controlled digitally via an input power control word. The digital attenuator is constructed as a segmented digitally controlled matrix or cell array comprising at least a pass and bypass matrix or array. The pass matrix controls the amount of current output from the PPA while the bypass matrix controls the amount of current shorted to the AC ground (i.e. power supply). By varying the number of transistors on or off in each matrix, the power output of the PPA can be easily and accurately controlled.

Compressor control for determining maximum pressure, minimum pressure, engine speed, and compressor loading

ActiveUS20100199950A1Decrease amount of noise pollutionIncrease speedElectrical controlOutput powerControl systemFuel efficiency
A load control system, in certain aspects, may be configured to decrease the amount of noise pollution of a prime mover (e.g., engine) of a service pack in that it may not require the prime mover to operate at higher discrete operating speeds to deliver small amounts of air from the air compressor. The load control system may also only increase the speed of the prime mover to a minimum discrete speed required, keeping noise at a minimum. The load control system may also maximize fuel efficiency by not operating the prime mover at the highest discrete speed at all times. More specifically, the lower operating speeds may lead to less fuel consumption.

High dynamic range charge readout system

A solid-state image sensor has a readout architecture that incorporates charge multiplier cells into a horizontal register of a CCD image sensor, and includes a first CCD register adjacent to at least a second CCD register and coupled to the said first register through a charge overflow barrier. A high Dynamic Range readout system results in which the DR is not restricted by the voltage swing limitations on the charge detection node. As the charge is multiplied, the horizontal register structure increases in width and more charge multiplication gates are added per stage. A charge overflow region follows the charge multiplier. In this region the amount of charge that exceeds a certain predetermined threshold is split off into another register. A detection node that has different conversion sensitivity may terminate this register. The process of charge overflow and splitting off may continue for more than two steps.

Direct digitally tunable microwave oscillators and filters

A tunable element in the microwave frequency range is described that may include one or more tunable elements that are directly digitally controlled by a digital bus connecting a digital control circuit to each controlled element. In particular, each digital signal is filtered by a digital isolation technique so that the signal reaches the tunable elements with very low noise. The low noise digital signals are then converted to analog control voltages. The direct D / A conversion is accomplished by a special D / A converter which is manufactured as an integral part of a substrate. This D / A converter in accordance with the invention may consist of a resistor ladder or a directly digitally controlled capacitor. The direct digitally controlled capacitor may be a cantilevered type capacitor having multiple separate electrodes or sub-plates representing binary bits that may be used to control the capacitor. A low cost microwave oscillator is disclosed in which some of the filters and oscillators are direct digitally tuned elements.

Biolar transistor

In a bipolar transistor including a base layer made of SiGe, a non-did SiGe layer and a non-doped Si layer are provided between the base layer and an emitter layer. The composition ratio of Ge in the emitter side of SiGe base layer is decreased with increasing proximity to the emitter side, and the composition ratio of Ge in the non-doped SiGe layer is a smaller than the composition ratio of Ge at the emitter layer-side end of the SiGe base layer. In this manner, restriction is put on the diffusion of boron from the base layer to the emitter side, and the base-emitter junction capacitance CBE reduced. Furthermore, the direct-current gain beta can be improved by increasing the composition of Ge at the emitter end of the SiGe base layer to more than or equal to a predetermined value.

Reversible seat cup for percussion instrument

A reversible seat cup allows free floating or fixed positioning of the seat cup, depending on application. For applications where the cymbal needs to be rigidly held, such as China cymbals, and / or minimal stand noise is essential, such as symphonic performances or studio applications, the seat cup can be positioned with the convex side positioned downward and “locked” firmly to the threaded post. A rubber O-ring on the threaded post fits into a receptacle in the seat cup to provide secure attachment and silent action. For applications where the cymbal, such as crash cymbals, needs freedom of movement, the seat cup can be positioned with the convex side positioned upward. A cavity on the opposite side allows the seat cup to float on the rubber O-ring for optimal cymbal sound. The plastic-type material of the seat cup and the rubber O-ring provides silent action and freedom of motion.

Dimmable ballast for an electrodeless discharge lamp

A ballast for an electrodeless discharge lamp includes a high frequency power supply that supplies a high frequency electric power to an induction coil for operating the lamp. A dimmer controller generates a control signal in response to a dimmer command designating a varying dimming ratio. The control signal defines a first period Ton in which the power supply is controlled to apply a coil voltage of a first level V1 to the induction coil for operating the lamp. The first period is followed by a second period Toff in which the power supply is controlled to apply the coil voltage of a second level V2 that is lower than the first level and fails to sustain the lamp. The control signal defines, between the second period and the first period, a starting period Tst in which the coil voltage increases continuously for smooth transition from an off-condition to an on-condition of the lamp.
