A method is provided for hydrolyzing polysaccharides in a lignocellulosic feedstock to produce monosaccharides or pretreating a lignocellulosic feedstock, in which an aqueous slurry of the lignocellulosic feedstock is fed into a pressurized dewatering zone wherein the feedstock is partially dewatered and then is compressed into a plug. The plug is introduced into a reaction zone that operates at a pressure (Pr) equal to greater than about 90 psia and under suitable temperature and pH conditions to hydrolyze the polysaccharides or pretreat the feedstock. The plug provides a pressure seal between the outlet of the dewatering zone and the reaction zone. The pressure (Pdwi) of the aqueous slurry of the lignocellulosic feedstock at the inlet of the dewatering device is related to Pr as follows:0≦ΔP<the lesser of [(Pr−20 psia) and 220 psia], andwhere ΔP is the absolute difference in pressure between Pr and Pdwi in psia.

A water level and temperature indicating device useful for signaling preset desired water levels in a bath tub and indicating air and bathwater temperature. The device has suction cup means for removably securing the device to the tub ledge. A depending float chamber and temperature probe for projecting into the bathtub, a battery operated audible alarm system and a battery operated digital thermometer device. An interchangeable weighted float of various lengths is housed within a float chamber. The float chamber has a removable screen unit to facilitate float changes which determine desired preset water level. A modified push on switch within the float chamber will complete an electrical circuit and sound an alarm when a desired preset water level is achieved. The thermometer device will indicate air temperature until it makes contact with the water. While in contact with water the thermometer device indicates water temperature.

A beverage dispenser is proposed which includes a soft raw water container and which makes it possible to spontaneously use up drinking water in the container. A water passage tube (12) of a container connecting portion (10) includes a tubular partitioning wall (13) dividing the interior of the water passage tube (12) into a water passage (14) communicating with a water passage hole (14a), and an air passage (15) communicating with the water passage (14) through a small air passage hole (15a). A water passage pipe (16) is connected to the water passage (14). The water passage tube (12) has a base portion (12a) formed with an opening (15b) communicating with the air passage (15). An air passage pipe (17) is connected to the opening (15b) and hangs vertically downwardly into a low-temperature tank (2). An on-off valve (19b) is provided at the free end of the air passage pipe (17) which is adapted to open when the water level in the low-temperature tank (2) lowers. With this arrangement, when drinking water in the raw water container (A) runs low and the water level in the low-temperature tank (2) remains low, air in the low-temperature tank (2) is introduced into the raw water container (A) through the on-off valve (19b), which is now open, the air passage pipe (17), the air passage (15) and the small air passage hole (15a). This eliminates a negative pressure in the raw water container (A), thereby allowing water remaining in the container to be dropped into the tank.

The surrounding rock support comprises the grout stopping wall, a waterproof curtain, a grouting section which is a radial grouting guide pipe grouting supporting section, a pipe shed steel pipecurtain grouting supporting section, and an advanced small guide pipe grouting supporting section. In the curtain grouting process, grout can be prevented from flowing back to squeeze and crack a primary support behind a tunnel face.
