Product authentication system for preventing distribution of counterfeits in market

By means of preventing counterfeits on the market from entering a distribution channel, the benefit of manufacturers, dealers, distributors, and consumers forming the distribution channel. First, a data server reads ID data of a non-contact tag 11 and of a reader 12, creates data files thereof, and stores the data files in a database. The reader 12 connected to the Internet reads its own ID data and sends it to an authentication server. The authentication server checks the received ID data of the reader 12 against the data file of the reader 12 stored in the database. If the two are identical, the reader is authenticated. The authenticated reader 12 reads the ID data of the non-contact tag 11 embedded in a product and sends it to the authentication server. The authentication server checks the received ID data of the non-contact tag 11 against the data file of the non-contact tag stored in the database. If, as a result, the two are identical, the authentication server notifies the reader 12 that the non-contact tag is authenticated. The product authentication system is administered and operated by an application service provider (ASP) entity 10.

Detecting coagulum formation

Techniques for detecting coagulum formation on an ablation electrode make use of an ablation electrode that is connected to a radio-frequency (RF) generator capable of applying a small amount of RF energy that is not cell destructive. The temperature at the ablation electrode can be precisely measured using a thermosensor incorporated within the ablation electrode. Before and after actual ablation, a low, non-cell destructing (non-ablating) amount of RF energy is generated at the ablation electrode. If no coagulum has formed during actual ablation, the temperature increase during this test application will be similar before and after the ablation attempt. If coagulum has formed during the actual ablation, however, the temperature increase during the test application after ablation will be significantly higher.

Semiconductor device and a method of manufacturing the same

To form a driver circuit to be mounted to a liquid crystal display device or the like on a glass substrate, a quartz substrate, etc., and to provide a display device mounting driver circuits formed from different TFTs suited for their respective operational characteristics. A stick driver circuit on the scanning line side and a stick driver circuit on the data line side are different in structure, and have different TFTs in which the thickness of a gate insulating film, the channel length and other parameters are varied depending on required circuit characteristics. In the stick driver on the scanning line side, which is composed of a shift register circuit, a level shifter circuit, and a buffer circuit, the buffer circuit has a TFT with a thick gate insulating film because it is required to have a withstand voltage of 30 V. The stick driver circuit on the data line side, which is composed of a shift register circuit, a latch circuit, a level shifter circuit, and a D / A converter circuit, is driven at a high frequency, and hence its shift register circuit and latch circuit have thin gate insulating films and the channel length thereof is shorter than that of the TFT of the buffer circuit.

Method for Creating Error Tolerant and Adaptive Graphical User Interface Test Automation

A method, apparatus and computer-usable medium for the improved automated testing of a software application's graphical user interface (GUI) through implementation of a recording agent that allows the GUI interactions of one or more human software testers to be captured and incorporated into an error-tolerant and adaptive automated GUI test system. A recording agent is implemented to capture the GUI interactions of one or more human software testers. Testers enact a plurality of predetermined test cases or procedures, with known inputs compared against preconditions and expected outputs compared against the resulting postconditions, which are recorded and compiled into an aggregate test procedure. The resulting aggregate test procedure is amended and configured to correct and / or reconcile identified abnormalities to create a final test procedure that is implemented in an automated testing environment. The results of each test run are subsequently incorporated into the automated test procedure, making it more error-tolerant and adaptive as the number of test runs increases.

Method and apparatus for using memory compression to enhance error correction

ActiveUS7340666B1Improve error detecting and error correcting capabilityIncrease reliabilityError detection/correctionCode conversionImage compressionCode word
A system for improving a memory's error detecting and error correcting capabilities. During operation, the system receives a data-word. Next, the system compresses the data-word into a compressed-word. If the amount of compression is greater than or equal to a compression-threshold, the system applies a strong error-correcting-code to the compressed-word to generate a coded-word. On the other hand, if the amount of compression is less than the compression-threshold, the system applies a weak error-correcting-code to the data-word to generate a coded-word. In either case the size of the coded-word is less than or equal to the size of a storage-word. The system then generates a flag that indicates the type of error-correcting code that was used to generate the coded-word. The system then stores the flag along with the coded-word in the memory.

Backup Lubrication System For A Rotor Bearing

A pressurized backup lubricant reservoir (36) with a lubricant line (31) to a rotor bearing (21). A control valve (43) on the backup lubricant line is normally closed. A monitor / controller (44) monitors multiple parameters of the bearing, and initiates an emergency protection sequence under combinations of conditions, including when a temperature of the bearing exceeds a threshold and a flow rate or pressure of a primary lubricant is outside a normal range and the rotor is rotating. The emergency protection sequence initiates a shut-down procedure for the rotor, and opens and modulates the control valve to meter a backup lubricant (33) from the backup reservoir to the bearing in proportion to a rundown rate of the rotor, such that lubrication of the bearing from the backup lubricant reservoir continues until the rotor stops turning. The protection sequence may also include coordinating braking of the rotor with the backup lubricant flow.
